Buying music when drunk

On the article which inspired this thread there's a quote describing the typical 'fifty quid man'. This is the guy we've all seen in Borders or HMV on a Friday afternoon, possibly after a drink or two, tie slightly undone, buying two CDs, a DVD and maybe a book - fifty quid's worth . Despite being pissed many times and buying cd's many times, I've never combined the two. Has anybody done so and what were the results?

Personal 5 Worst of all Time

True for 3 of 5. The day Tower Records in Piccadilly stopped opening until 1 was a happy day for my record collection.

dean! i kiss you.

i've bought loads of records at shows while drunk, but never been drunk in a record shop. i originally regretted buying the new Lotus CD, but it's grown on me immensely, and it's value for irritating my suitemates is high.

I buy records drunk online all the time. It sucks.

I tend to find really great deals on eBay when I'm drunk.

This is a tough one, since the record store where I work is across the street from two bars. I've kicked a few drunks out (I don't think they were planning to buy anything anyhow). Though one is likely to spend a little more when lubed (can't argue with that), I'm a little annoyed when I can smell alcohol on their breath.

Just don't go vinyl shopping fucked up. Everything suddenly sounds great on headphones. "Hey, I never knew I liked hard trance."

Felt the need to purchase Blondie's Parallel Lines during a moment of drunken ecstacy after hearing "Heart of Glass" in The Keg. Happily, the record store was only a few stores away in the mall. Unhappily, it wasn't until 24 hours and $12.99 later that I remembered already owning (& rarely playing) the vinyl.

I got The Chronic at a used store that my friend worked at when I was earthspinningly drunk. Best eight dollars I ever drunkenly spent.

I think Matos sold me a copy of a Gilberto Gil album when I was drunk.

I'll allow my drunken self to put things in my Amazon shopping basket, so I don't forget what a brilliant idea it would be to buy them.

I won't allow my drunken self to actually purchase anything.

Of course this also means that my sober self gets make the final decision as to whether it really is as brilliant an idea as it seemed at the time.

I figure that when my drunken self actually starts to earn some of the money, my sober self might give him a bit more say on how to spend it!

I tend to think it's best to only ever attempt to manage one obsessive behavioural trait at a time.

"I won't allow my drunken self to actually purchase anything."

Well, apart from another couple of rounds, a packet of fags and a curry on the way home, obviously.
