Is the Crystal Method boring in concert?

I recently interviewed the Crystal Method, which I enjoyed, mostly because of the Moby slagging.
However, I just saw them in concert. It was BORING. My friend -- who is a big dance-music fan -- remarked, "It's almost like they're lip-synching." I don't know how to describe it, except ... sort of a snooze.
Was this a bad night or are these guys a rather soporific act?

By the way, if you're interested, the Q&A is at

Never seen 'em around here but they probably are. As it is they're always going to be this sort of 'we're almost the Chemical Brothers from LA, really!' vibe hanging over them no matter what they do. Cripes, now I'm just thinking about Moonshine mix CDs from 1994.

They're boring on their records, too.

One of those band where the name tells you everything...you already know it all -- past and future -- the minute you hear their name.

haha! I trotted out the 'American Chemical Brothers' cliche without realizing Mr. Deeds brought it up directly in the interview. Well done, sir.

There's a big Crystal Meth problem where I live.

They probably are boring in concert, or at least very awful. They just seem to make the kind of music that can't really be played live I think.

Well, I don't expect much from electronica duos. I mean, really, they aren't exactly moving around much more than if they were just DJing. But it just seemed ... I dunno ... it was the music, it was the lack of stage show. Everything. I won't go back.
On a side note, I saw Jerry Seinfeld in concert last night, too. I won't go back for him, either.

Mr Deeds (Mr Deeds), Saturday, 13 March 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Seinfeld sucked?!?!

Crystal Method will be at SXSW. I'm not planning on seeing them.

"The Crystal Method surprise even themselves with triumphant L.A. return" The headline before they even play the show that is discussed in the piece. No wonder people have no use for music journalism.

They're awful live. And they're one of those electronic acts for "people who don't like electronic music", so the crowd was full of frat boy types spilling beer everywhere.
