Phil Lynott?

Patrick Kinghorn, Saturday, 13 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I listen to Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, and Atmosphere a lot.

I just started listening to People Under the Stairs. "O.S.T." is a good album.

New Eyedea & Abilities album comes out next week (?); I'm hoping that will be good.

subgenius (subgenius), Saturday, 13 March 2004 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's probably not cool, but I love Doseone.

Stupid (Stupid), Saturday, 13 March 2004 23:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Twista.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Saturday, 13 March 2004 23:14 (twenty-two years ago)

His last album was kinda uneven, but Ludacris is still on my list.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Sunday, 14 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

TI

Sym (shmuel), Sunday, 14 March 2004 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Sym yay; I actually see T.I. more as a songwriter than a rapper, but hell yeah.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Sunday, 14 March 2004 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

luda. ace rock, still. diz rascal. I've been on a grandmaster flash kick lately. Kanye and jigga. just started relistening to "like water for chocolate" and "buhloone mindstate" again.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 14 March 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

third vote for TI

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 14 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

RoyceRoyceRoyce -- all the corny indie fuxx should be on his jock too.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 14 March 2004 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Is the album any good then? I really liked the stuff he's been putting out since all that playground shit with D12 started, but I saw mixed reviews...

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 14 March 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

who is madvillain?

robin (robin), Sunday, 14 March 2004 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

the album is so badass its killing me.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 14 March 2004 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Madvillain = MF Doom + Madlib. Damn fine record, even if most of the songs are really short.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Sunday, 14 March 2004 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

eminem

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Sunday, 14 March 2004 03:57 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 14 March 2004 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

the last couple of weeks, my faves have been redman, capone-n-noreaga and ghostface.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Sunday, 14 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

sole is still good (his man's best friend record is rather sketchy, tho)
kanye
luda (his chorus stuf on the kanye record is sooooo tight)
dose and why? are just over the top, their new cLOUDDEAD stuff has completely left the realm of hip hop. very poetic, tho.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 15 March 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so used to 79 minute hip-hop albums that Madvillainy does seem kinda short, but it's got some brilliant moments nonetheless

Josh Love (screamapillar), Monday, 15 March 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

tell me about T.I.
I grabbed his album after seeing his name pop on a random ggler thread, but haven't listened to it yet.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 15 March 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't really know what other music you like except black eyed peas, so i'm not sure what you would think of him. he sounds a bit like a conversational new york guy but with a southern accent and has the whole lyrical skills thing and uses the most conventional beats possible.

William Wiggins, Monday, 15 March 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

How do you I like Black Eyed Peas?
I probably said so somewhere, huh? I'm sorta all over the place, and have more enthusiasm than knowledge for rap right know. I mean I know what I like, but just wondering if there's anything I should know before I listen, other than some random ggler thinks T.I. is the best rapper in the world ever.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 15 March 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

not sure i agree about the "most conventional beats possible" statement - a lot of the beats on "trap muzik" kinda straddle the hyperactive hi-hat david banner style with the lush organized noize feel.

jldsf, Monday, 15 March 2004 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, you're right. i might have meant conventional by album-by-rapper-from-atlanta standards or something.

William Wiggins, Monday, 15 March 2004 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you turning on TI, d k?

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

no. do your research. i've never really liked him that much.

William Wiggins, Monday, 15 March 2004 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

haha sorry
Your description is pretty OTM though. I think I just like my crunkish southern rappers to sound as much like NY Premier Illmaticesque productions w/ lyrical skills as possible.

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

anyone into this new Buck 65 record? i totally dig it. he reminds of this annoying dude from my hometown though i still really really like the record. so i guess my answer to the thread...

buck 65

ken taylrr, Tuesday, 16 March 2004 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)
