production info

Anyone have a good place to go to (online) to find info on who produced, wrote, etc. older stuff? For example: say I wanted to find who produced Jermaine Jackson's 1989 single "Don't Take It Personal." Where the hell could I find that? [Allmusic has producer credits, but don't specify song-by-song, just for albums.] Help.

the only site i know of that's close to that is billboard, and it's a pay site. they've got producer and writer info for every song that's ever appeared on any billboard chart (which means it's good for singles).

for writer info only, you should be able to find out who wrote just about any song by using the repertoire search functions on ascap.com and bmi.com, which are both free.

"don't take it personal" was written by d. conley, d. culler and d. townsend, and produced by conley and townsend. if you need their full first names, they're presumably somewhere on ascap or bmi (or google).
