Favorite lyric:
One night upon my motorcycle through the desert I sped / I smashed my body so that all my friends thought I was dead / My sister held me close and whispered to my bleeding head / "You are the son of a motherfucker." 1..2..3..4

it's very heavy Puerto Rican dialect, maybe that accounts for some incomprehension from a Spaniard.

Black Francis must have liked this lyric as well - didn't it get used in two different Pixies songs?
― The Yellow Kid, Monday, 26 July 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)
It's from a pastiche Pixies song called 'Motherbanger' that was given away with a magazine some years ago.

I remember asking a Spanish friend of mine to translate 'Oh My Golly', 'Isla de Encanta' and the start of 'Vamos' for me. She sat for a while with her fingers on the rewind and play buttons going back and forth over Vamos repeating "It makes no sense, it makes no sense." Once she had provided her best translation, I agreed.― mmmmsalt (Graeme), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:55 (9 years ago)

This is kind of reassuring, if true. I had a similar experience of trying to get a Spanish woman to explain the lyrics of Isla de Ecanta to me and her telling me that they were just gibberish. Mind you, this was in the days before you could find everything on the internet so I had no access to the Spanish lyrics in written form. And I was abroad without my record collection so I had to try to remember what the words were, which was pretty difficult as I didn't speak Spanish. So it's quite possible I was talking gibberish in the first place.
