the mars volta seem to only have an albums worth

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The strokes have done two albums, five singles or thereabouts, and now have two songs that are exclusive to singles. (Old men and young women (or thereabouts), and "When it started" or "NYC Cops" depending on if you're USA or UK based.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Mayhem: about 12 songs in, what, 8 years?

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

!!! have only an LP, a split LP, a 12", and a 7" (and maybe a comp appearance), yet they're first on EVERYONE'S iPod. Still, S, don't D, yet.

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i say destroy !!!

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

OK D !!! but S LCD S (2 12"s + 1 7").

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Destroy the La's? With me, brothers?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Slint. I say search, selectively.

hmmm (hmmm), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Agreed to La's destruction. Search the United States of America (but destroy it's current president, yet search the band's leader whom I've been told teaches in Humboldt, CA). Search the Silicon Teens, for fun. Destroy solo Keith Levene, now, isn't about time?

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Search Uphill Gardeners. Pre-post-punk. Or something. All worthwhile, one Cd, one 45. Gtrst nw drms fr yng ppl.

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Yatha Sidra - A Meditation Mass (1972)

One album, one song and that's yer lot.

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

GYBE have about 15 songs, although each are 20 minutes long. But everyone's already made up their mind about GYBE, so there's no need for the S/D recommendation (although it's a definite S IMHO).

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

They sound like Spike Jones don't they?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

search the modern lovers

!!!! (amateurist), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Interpol seemed to just reshuffle a lot of songs on their different EPs, or put out live versions of album tracks, without releasing any new songs.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

the stiff upper hitlers.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The Modern Lovers have a MILLION songs!

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose you don't like the Ice Cream Man?

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Search: Black Tambourine

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose you don't like the Ice Cream Man?
-- Mr Mime (countandre...), March 17th, 2004.

Solo J. Richman joint, surely?

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah maybe JR AND THE ML, but I felt like defending that song against nothing. Yeah !!!! I know what you mean, sorry

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Lungfish. But as Ian MacKaye says, it's a pretty good song.

Lee G (Lee G), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

s: the normal and M/A/R/R/S

scott pl. (scott pl.), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: bands that don't have many songs vs. bands that don't have any songs

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

destroy: The untouchables and Eibon
search: Flesh parade

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Search, sadly, The Exploding Hearts.

southern lights (southern lights), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Harvey Danger?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

scott wins this thread with the normal.

also search:
the vaselines
minor threat
dick destiny and the highway kings
country bob and the blood farmers
robert johnson
the pixies three

fact checking cuz (fcc), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Search The Nerves -- one CLASSIC 7" with four songs on it -- absolutely essential though.

Southern Lights tragically OTM about Exploding Hearts - that album is amazing.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

jim-jams

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Sonic's Rendezvous Band

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

The Mars Volta also have that debut EP.

I could name lots of jazz artists who only have a couple of originals to their credit, but it's not the same really.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

search the Neo Boys, Portland punk band with 5 or so songs?

search The Table...2 amazing 7"s then nothing, yet they warranted an extensive Allmusic write up?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

SEARCH: The Nerves. Released only one EP in their entire lifetime, but still one of the all-time greats. Ever heard "Hanging On the Telephone"? Blondie's version DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE.

SEARCH: Eternal. One EP. Three songs. Shoegazer music before shoegazer music was fashionable.

SEARCH: M|A|R|R|S. You've heard "Pump Up the Volume," right?

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Who's the most "classic" band with the smallest catalog: the Sex Pistols?

Not That Chuck, Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Instead of bands that don't have many songs, what about bands who don't have many kinds of songs?

S: AC/DC, The Ramones

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

D: Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain. Both bands have the same song that has lots and lots of guitars that do... NOTHING! They just sit there and go "KIIIHHHIIKKKIIIH!!!!!!!" the whole time.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha most convincing onomotapoeia ever

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh wait. I screwed up. The JaMC shouldn't be onthere. I forgot that only Psychocandy sounds like that. "Head On" and their later stuff don't sound like that at all.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Destroy all bands who don't have enough songs. Before they do.

Salmon Pink (Salmon Pink), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i meant the modern lovers, original incarnation, before jonathan went solo

!!!! (amateurist), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)
