the quintessential electro beat? but where did 'Numbers' take it from, if anything? slow it right down and it feels pretty bluesy (sorry this is a bit 'rhythmic origins for beginners' perhaps, so educate me)

Kraftwerk 'Tour De France'
Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force 'Planet Rock'
Tag Team 'Whoomp! There It Is'

what else?

Pet Shop Boys ft Dusty Springfield 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?'
Daft Punk 'Aerodynamic'

Definitely the two big Twilight 22 singles- "Siberian Nights" and "Electric Kingdom".

Also "Egypt, Egypt" by Egyptian Lover. "Play at Your Own Risk" by Planet Patrol. God there must be a ton more I'm forgetting. I only had it drummed into my skull every night as a kid. Andy K to thread!

Oh, also "Panic Zone" by NWA from their b-boy period. Also probably a bunch of 2 Live Crew stuff. "We Want Some Pussy" maybe? oh and Quad City DJ's "Ride This Train" of course.

Hashim - Al Naafiysh

Yeah, I don't think that Hashim cut is really the same beat. I mean, not to get pedantic; we're talking about fine gradations of rhythm here, but it's a pretty specific beat.

think you're right, its not exactly the same beat.
what about 'The Beat Club - Security' ?

Someone should adopt Stevem's beat tablatures for future threads like this. Brilliant!

similar things have been done on other threads i'm sure - maybe some of the Timba and Neptunes threads, but yeh we can have fun playing ID THAT BEAT
