Nas - "Get Down"!

took me about a year or so to realize it, but this is really wonderful! sure sure nobrain ancient funk break (ethan tells me it made its first appearance on an ice-t [or was it cube?] track, if you know which one feel free to tell me), but so delightfully crisp for a reheated leftover - pure brownian motion! anyway this wouldn't be nothing if nas wasn't on top form: beginning with a walking tour of nyc with convincing gangsta vet swagger, we get narrow escapes from cop clutches, courtroom drama, veiled triple 6 mafia references (i'm told), crinshaw funerals (accompanied by a baroque keyboard fluorish or two), ass sex, revenge, jet-li gunplay, it's a fucking four minute miniseries!!

Probably my favorite track on God's Son (which I really liked as a whole anyway).

its my favorite after "Made U Look" which was ridiculously good (although not as good as the "Made U Look Remix")
Ice-T was the first to use this James Brown sample, yes.

i never realized it might be a three six thing-- independent label, tennessee, sherm. that part always made me think of the scene in belly where that banana eating southern gangsta guy puts something in shameek's drink in the strip club.

this is a great, great song! i love the rest of the album too, well mostly. what's the other song that "the boss" is sampled on? or sampled on first?

Yes, instant hook.. Because of that song, I still barely know the rest of the album.. Also, perfect mixtape track.

It's nice that Nas refers to his fighting skills in the song's narrative as "awesome Jet Li Shit."
