Kraftwerk in Berlin -- Should I go?

I'm in Berlin, and I'm thinking about going to the Kraftwerk show on the 25th. The first show is sold out, but the midnight show is not (which is actually preferable for me).
Do I go to this show? Considerations:
1. They play in Toronto on April 23rd, and I can see them then for a lot less money and not get kicked in the nuts by the crappy CDN -> EURO exchange rate.
2. The crowd in Toronto may suck. The crowd in Berlin will definitely not suck.
3. Let's play word association. "Kraftwerk in Toronto" ... OK, sure. "Kraftwerk in Berlin" ... kick ass.

Am I being stupid in worrying about the money here? Do I just say "fuck it" and go?

OT: get a ticket!!!

If you miss the Berlin show you are going to be objectively fucking up.

I mean like I have scientific instruments and beakers and spectographic readings and pie charts and shit that will supply me with the empirical data necessary to determine that you will be fucking up bad. This is not just my opinion, this conclusion is the result of science!

Seriously, why is this a hard choice? Sure as hell the Toronto show is prolly cheaper, but when else will you be able to say, "I saw the Godfathers of Techno in their home country"?

Run, dammit!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course you're all correct ... in my defense, there is nobody around here who a) wants to go, b) likes Kraftwerk enough to council me about going, or c) likes music enough to slap me around and tell me what an easy choice this is. So that's when I turn to good ol' ILM.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

saw them in 1998- amazing - you must go!

ssl, Wednesday, 17 March 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

A friend of mine saw them in Chicago a few years ago and said he saw more than a few grown men weeping at the show.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I may even be a serious badass and see them in Toronto as well. That way I can empirically take the sort of data that RebOfHaz wrote about.

The results will likely be far less ambiguous than the data I've been looking at here.

more than a few grown men weeping

The notion of grown men weeping at Kraftwerk shows has become a bit of an urban legend, it seems. I'm not suggesting that it didn't or doesn't happen, but it's become such a cliche in terms of Kraftwerk performances.

Err...go to both? I can't see where the question is here. I don't think you even need to ask, and are just looking to rub it in...

lukey (Lukey G), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather pay money to see Scooter than be paid to see Kraftwerk.

Is there no more wine? I seem to have drunk it all.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Hell, I'd go see fuckin' Hayzi Fantayzee in Berlin, given the chance. But to see Kraftwerk there? What more could you want?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 18 March 2004 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)
