"endless summer" is the easiest to start with.

Also maybe "Fennesz Plays" for a little taster.

"Fennesz Plays" is a great starter: two songs that are covers of very familiar pop songs & will guide you through his basic approach.

"don't talk (put your head on my shoulder)" - fennesz plays
"paint it black" - fennesz plays
"endless summer" - endless summer
"good man" - field recordings
"aus" - hotel paral.lel
"codeine" - field recordings

julio--you would love the "live in japan" disc. it's thick and chewy with tons of stuff going on.

Endless Summer never really made much of an impression on me but I really like that Live in Japan one. Not sure why this is, but should I check out the new one?

"Live in Japan" is the shit, it's much more dense than Endless Summer, so for those who thought ES didn't have enough of a white noise kick, LinJ comes highly recommended (as does the "Revolver" live ep, which is very similar in style).
I would actually start with "Field Recordings". There's a greater range of ideas on it than on ES (but it's a compilation, so this is not quite a fair comparision).
I think it's the better CD.

Has the new one leaked yet?

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 19 March 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

it's not only leaked, it's been released, I saw it in Aquarius two days ago.

It's very good. I like Hotel Parallel and Endless Summer about the same, and like this one about the same as those.

Fennesz - Venice
http://www.londondiary.ltd.uk/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=893

clarification, the official distributed release is April 26th in the UK.

However, Touch records have a policy of making their albums available - as soon as they receive copies from the physical manufacturer, either to customers direct http://www.touchshop.org/index.php?cPath=3 or specialist retailers/ distributors.

e.g Touch records service specialist shops such as Forced Exposure/ These records etc before the official UK distributor release. They are an independent company - so set their own policies.

Touch records in the UK use Kudos Records that is linked with Pinnacle distribution. Therefore like all independent labels they have to wait for a release date slot, that includes a time gap - for pre-release sales to retailers etc

seventeen years pass...

so, a little story

i'm alerted to the fact that fennesz put out an album in 2019 because table is the table posted a track from it on facebook. i'm listening to the track, it's really nice. i search it out on bandcamp. i'm idly reading through the user reviews and see this one, which strikes a chord:

thehartnett I think Fennesz's music gives people the gift of time and space, in a small way. This album is no different: Go 'In my Room', shut the door, and allow these sounds to give you a little room to ponder the gift of texture and sound. Just keep your hands open. Favorite track: Agora.

i click on thehartnett to spy on his profile and the first words in his bio are

I am first and foremost a disciple of Jesus, the Son of God.

I for one encourage more people of wider religious backgrounds to appreciate and enjoy music like Fennesz's.

Personally, I've had spiritual experiences listening to Black Sea, my favorite record of his. On that level I am sure I could have a positive conversation with thehartnett about the tunes, so long as it doesn't get too deep into Jesus.

I also listened to Agora this morning and liked it more than almost anything else I've heard from him, it's right up there with Field Recordings and Endless Summer for me.
