I am still eagerly awaiting the day I hear any of this stuff, and I know there are Seger-boosters here (I'm lookin at you, chuck eddy), thought they might dig this...

Good piece, thanks Shakey! All Sega Hatas on this board should read this, and learn the truth. Then they should FINALLY get somebody to compile all those ass-kicking early punk rock singles of his.

All this week I've been listening to a CD-R I made of the best songs from both volumes of his Greatest Hits. I, too, really wish all the early records would come back into print, but I don't think he wants them to.

Really good article indeed. Had no idea about the Frey/Seger connection from way the hell back -- or that Fieger had been around so long before the Knack!

Ok, I just saw a clip of Bob Seger on VH-1's "Best Week Ever" and... it wasn't pretty. He'll need to be gettin' those records of the shelf, because he can't sing shit anymore...

twenty years pass...

Pretty much everything I've liked about Silver Bullet-era Seger is what you'd find on one of his hits collections, but this is a big exception:

Had it on iTunes for a while but it came up on random play and songwriting-wise it sounds like one of the best things he's ever done.

But yeah, 20 years later and we're still relying on unofficial channels for all those earlier '60s gems.
