What do I play..

I'm thinking starting off indietronic for the before, going into crunchy mayhem (funkstorung, mouse on mars, matthew dear) for the inbetween, and then disco-punk/dfa for the after.

give me my setlist: 45min / 30 min / 1hr 30 min

Sounds like a good idea, I think you've already got it figured out.
You could even go a bit goth for the before, throw in some Dead Voices on Air or Covenant.
Crunchy mayhem: add Akufen, Porter Ricks, and electro (i.e. Drexciya).
Throw in some Joy Division for good measure during the last set.

And fuck em all if they don't think any of the stuff you mentioned is classic.

Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffanys or The Lemonheads - Big Gay Heart are your strong choices.

are people that dj between bands the same thing as...erm, djs that people go to see? cos, not trying to hate on your gig, but i've never noticed the music between indie stuff...

I've been in this situation and let me tell ya there's no joy like DJing during soundcheck. I stick with hits and trashy stuff with lotsa cursing.

that's probably the best combination of time to be djing. Save all the indie hits that everyone will know to after the bands, cos that's when people will want to dance, and the venue will want to keep people in so they keep buying drinks. Any duff records in that period will scare people away.

but you can probably play pretty much whatever in between, and before the bands. no one takes that much notice, and you can try out all your favourite obscure stuff to see people's reactions.
