mum are very good indeed. twee indie pop + wishy washy idm = a surprisingly winning formula. and now another mum album. it's called "summer make good" - have any of you folks heard it? there have been some good things written about it...

I'd forget about the twee. It's quite atmospheric. Ne pas de your Green Grass of Tunnel mumbojumbo here.

A lot of it seems to be about ships.

The squeaky voice is an acquired taste, alright, but if you're able to get past that, this album is quite beautiful. Has a very warm, cozy sound to it. Brilliantly produced.

oh yes. ggg is otm abt the singer, tho. the album is very lovely and very beautifully produced. luv the way they use background noise as a texture in itself. very loveable. and now i can't think of any more words beginning with love or luv to describe this album.

I'm quite disappointed by "Summer Make Good" on the first few listens, they've started sounding like Sigor Ros but squeakier. Perhaps it's a grower, I shall not give up on them. It might be my stereo, but the sound is too clanky and sparse. Oh, and the packaging is really annoying, the CD gets all scraped up when you try to put it back!!

it's beautiful. it's sparse ,yeah and it is unrelentingly melancholic but it's perfect for late night drifting off. i have no problem with her voice. it's not nearly as vague and pointless as sigur ros.

Hallelujah!

I was flirting with some girl here in Berlin who's always boasting about how Mum are her friends. In fact, so busy was she playing Ping Pong with Sindri and co on the Helmholtzplatz that she couldn't even find the time to go for a coffee with me. Annoyed, I sent her an e mail saying 'Namedropping Mum and dropping Momus shows you have poor taste.' So now I can use ILM as scientific proof that she has poor taste. Now, I wonder if Scissors meant post-Momus Kahimi Karie?

'Namedropping Mum and dropping Momus shows you have poor taste.'

on the contrary, momus...

You can kick me if you're a boy, I don't care a bit. It's only when girls kick me that I cry.
