So how high is the file pile of unused submissions David?

alex in mainhattan, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

PROPOSED RULE: There will be a 30-day-ish span between posting tracks by the same artist. This also goes for remixers, too. Hip- hop producers get a bye, though, because I say so.

Also - I have 3 MP3s in the kitty. Keep 'em coming in - I'll insert my own selections once in a while as well, just because I can. Absolute power RULZ.

David Raposa, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can the 30 Day thingee be waived if said artist is an ILMer?

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's EXACTLY why I'm instituting said rule - the Chamber promotes variety, and plays no favorites. No offense to IL* artists, of course, but I think it's better that way.

David Raposa, Thursday, 18 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dave: You need to either rename the files, or rename the thread titles, to give them the same format. I've been keeping the files around and it's very difficult without memory to recall that thread #9 corresponds to filename ilm011013 (which I doubt it does, hence the example). And it'll get worse as the number of threads and files grows.

Cut it back to twice a week, to increase the novelty and hopefully discussion. Reveal the artist after a couple days, so people can continue/revive the discussion. A week is a long, long time to wait in the IL* universe. Interest in individual tracks seems to last maybe 2 days, making the revelation of the artist after a week rather anti-climactic.

Obviously, these are all just suggestions. Thank you for the Chamber! I shall make many live sacrifices in its honor.

Actually, Mr. Weiss, I was thinking about that very thing. If anything, it will ease my bandwidth burden. (I rec'd a warning around Chamber 3 from my hosting service that, if I continued experiencing such high levels of traffic, I'd have to cough up an extra $100. That's ridiculous.) Probably 3 a week would be good, maybe.

And, goddamn, YES, I need to reorganize the files, yes. It will annoy folks coming from the ILM threads, but fuck it. Thank you, Ian.

keep up th egood times !

Agree about 3 per week. But not necessarily about revealing answer within 2 days. I seem to recall some people can't play mp3s from their usual computer and have to go out of their way to listen in. Some only listen at weekends. As for me, I only surf Mon-Fri. I had a long weekend last week and came back to find five new listening chambers to catch up on.

Jeff, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

four weeks pass...
What happened to the listening chambers? For almost two weeks we have been without the wonderful ILM blindtest. No one interested any more? And where are the answers to the last 3 or 4 chambers? David, if you don't have any mp3s in your pile anymore I can send you some. No problem.

alex in mainhattan, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, hop to it, meatball.

jess, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Damn it, Jess...

It's certainly not for a lack of MP3s. I've just been, how you say, dropping the ball on my dainty little feets. This evening, I shall get back up to speed.

As for the answers to the newer Chambers - well, dang then. I'll have to go harass some people.

David Raposa, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't let my (co-)brainchild die, Raposa!

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
