You have all heard the Twin Peaks soundtrack. After all these years, I stick to the opinion that it is something special about these Badalamenti songs that capture a certain otherwordliness seldom heard in other music. Or what do you think? Is the concept of dream pop already out of fashion? What is the most radical and best achieved moment of dream pop??

5 million answers by dawn, or none at all apart from this, I'm afraid.

But I'm currently digging Cassidy by Bows.

I'm still very impressed by Alphawezen - Into The Stars.

This thread is going to cause me to spend hundreds of fucking pounds, isn't it?

information on Luke Sutherland's future musical endeavours is hard to come by.

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 20 March 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeed, I guess largely cos he's busy writing books. There's a third novel either just out or out very soon, about a guy who's great at shagging.

hector (hector), Saturday, 20 March 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Cocteau Twins thirded and Hinterland seconded (nice to see the latter mentioned here).

David A. (Davant), Saturday, 20 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Who are 'Luomo'? Sounds like a Finnish band :)

Rush Rhees (Rush Rhees), Saturday, 20 March 2004 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Seefeel's first album, Quique.

Charles Dexter (Holey), Saturday, 20 March 2004 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Luomo is a Scandinavian 'house' producer, with ambient leanings. He's pretty good.

Sutherland's most recent musical endeavour was the Music AM album and very good it is too. He's in a trio with Volker Bertelmann and To Rococo Rot's Stefan Schneider. Ned, natch, has a review at allmusic.com,

I read "Venus as a boy" (the novella about a supershagging Orkney-ite) and was very disappointed.

keith m (keithmcl), Sunday, 21 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and don't forget England's Fiel Garvie. They are somewhere in shoegaze/dreampop territory.
