I think Bobo is French origin, maybe? It's a name that connotes a sort of sweet harmless stupidity. There are plenty of Bobo The Clowns out there. Our Bobo was too stupid to get out of the garage and my dad accidentally parked on him but he was also apparently too stupid to die, he turned out just fine.

Not being on that side of the Atlantic I can't be sure, but in Rick's Story in Cerebus , Dave Sim has Rick use 'bobbing on bobo' as a euphemism for oral sex. No idea how widespread it might be on that continent. Far be it for me to suggest that Aerosmith might use a sexual euphemism as an album title though... :-)

agh, I still think the post-DWM Geffen era singles are pretty great. Not as good as the '70s stuff, but I was introduced to these guys as aging Desmond Child pushers anyhow. Like Rod Stewart, I'm not offended by their dropping of certain traits over time cuz I didn't even know they had 'em until college.

Ha, had totally forgotten about Bonkin' On Hobo, which I've never seen anywhere. Agree that overdoing is what Aerosmith were good at when they were good, but also bad at when they were bad, ditto the Stones, who could learn from and lift, folk-process Muddy Waters-type slide guitar, but also combine it with Watts beats, whichever-Stones falsetto, all the other parts Jones put in, then the right hired hands, incl. London Boys Choir, in his wake, with Jagger sounding totally into it, though"it" incl. perfectly crass, sincere, deadpan, corrugated-stylized (liked to tell interviewers that his name came from thieves with knives, like pursejaggers I guess). Bad Boys vs. still-cheeky Fab Four, like Aerosmith vs, Bee Gees in film of Sgt. Pepper's. Andrew Loog Oldham's liner notes in droogspeak. Pre-Baraka Leroi Jones quoted a friend, "At they sound like English crooks."
But more effective with what was tagged per se blues in with r&b, rock, etc., than when they came back with whole old man albums of blues. They were better when learning from their own club era set list, basically (and of course Robert Johnson, like others of the "songster" era, is now said by some to have had to mix it up, to be a traveling jukebox, to get gigs).
Suspect I'd think the same if I listened to this album.
