I get really nostalgic about AD&D now. I bought the first D&D set in probably 1977 or so. I played RPGs all through middle and high school including AD&D. My first real job was with RPG company Iron Crown Enterprises. As far as I can tell all that stuff is out of print now. Sad.
That said, my favorite RPG-influenced band is, hands down, Three Inches Of Blood. They sing songs about killing orcs!
