lil flip, chamillionaire, bun b - platinum

it sounds springy and bright even screwed and chopped by og ron c (choppin it up but not sloppin it up!!), even when he crashes the beat into itself and never lets the hook play properly. flip sounds happy and fast and does that question and answer thing with himself-- i got a lac (what kind?) a cadillac escalade! i'm wearin jordans (which ones?) the very first ones made! i got a watch (what kind!) an iced out cartier! and chamillionaire is a lot more serious and rips off trina (it took me a long time to figure out what it was, i kept hearing bits of the trina verse over chamillionaire's but i couldn't remember who said it or where it was from-- it's from how we do!!). and bun b, who has much less experience than flip and cham talking about hopping out in the fendi suit and dvds in the bentley coupe and so mostly talks about girls and guns and drugs-- he mentions automatic starters but ruins it by rhyming it with fully-automatic choppers.

the mp3 I have sez it's titled "Platinum Stars", or is it really just "Platinum"? this has the same beat (or at least the same piano sample) as a Cam'ron mixtape track called "To The Top". it's kind of daisy anyway. this kind of lineup deserves a better beat. Flip definitely gets shown up by both Cham and Bun B.

yeah, it's "platinum stars"-- and just a mixtape track (it's on the new southern smoke [hosted by paul wall!!]), i think, not on u gotta feel me, but it should be.

haha yeah i just saw the other day that southern smoke 8 is already out wtf man he just did 7 like three weeks ago!! motherfucker does mixes faster than i can even buy the shit and each one got an even more audible-gasp amazing tracklist than the last one, cham on 7 wsnt too impressive though considering how funny and interesting he usually is (and on that fucking wack 'screw jamz' song!! didnt even slow down the twista beat!!) but paul wall cd be alot better- dk did you ever get to hear that flip/cassidy ambitions of a ridah track from invasion 3? i ws just thinking today how the 80s synthpop drums remind me of banners bout our money eurythmics jack (also w flip) which i just heard!! man cass you shdve put this on your garbage album, and flip im hopin you still dont need it

No days? Fuck that shit.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, the southern smoke tracklists are always amazing, not bad exclusives and pulling-names-out-of-a-hat remixes that you'll die if you never get to hear and i've heard almost none of the songs on them and probably never will. i've still never heard that flip/cassidy track. i heard that bout our money track quite a while ago when it was the one mp3 download on the really old version of david banner's website.

William Wiggins, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 06:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel kind of bad for cassidy, especially reading his interviews. he's very earnest, i think, and honest. swizz should have known that no one would take him seriously after hotel, no matter who he battled or what he said on mixtapes. and i can't imagine that his album is that bad.
