(That said, I haven't spent time w/ the new stuff and am kind of fatigued with Kanye's shtick at the moment.)

I'd second "Can't Tell Me Nothing." Probably the best distillation of what Kanye is about, a mix of narcissism and "I'm just being honest" faux-humility and corny jokes over good production. It's not particularly showy, so I guess it doesn't make the case for him as a "force to reckon with." But I don't think he's ever been the genius that others make him out to be, so maybe this recommendation should be totally disregarded

i relistened to the college dropout and late registration yesterday though and they're both still really good!

"flashing lights" was the first kanye tune that really pulled me in

first 4 tracks off yeezus are pretty astonishing, if you can't see something powerful in that suite then no big deal but i wouldn't bother trying any more
