Anyone know the story with this? Has anyone heard either of these items? I just read a little blurb about their shows at SXSW in the Onion AV Club. It seems like their EP should be out, and that the album is on the way, but I can't find anywhere to buy the EP online (and soulseek is no help either).

hwo come it is so hard for them to get their records released? do they ask for a lot of dough? does no one love them?

Also: why is it impossible to find a copy of their first album?

eighteen years pass...

this recording is:

*exactly four minutes and thirty-nine seconds long, ergo absolutely perfect
*appropriate justification for the existence of earth
*"weightlifting" by the trashcans

(hi the whole album is really good and a personal classic, but the title track is pretty significant. would recommend a listen. you may find something.)

damn, yknow I really love I’ve seen everything but was not moved by this one.. will try again

i get that. the rest of the album is very similar-sounding soft rock and i would begrudge no one who kept the title track and disregarded the rest.

β€œWeightlifting” is just perfect. So beautifully simple.

New EP out in a few months.

Cake was my introduction and remains my favorite -- a near perfect record of post-Smiths jangly, harmony-laden acoustic guitar pop that Travis always reminded me of -- though I do like the warmth and ease they achieve on "All the Dark Horses" and "Weightlifting".
