Nice thread

LC, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

mmh, Todd Rundgren - I saw the light...or some Badly Drawn Boy
(I shouldn't reply to my own thread)

sibsi (sibsi), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

First song I thought with Rhodes and your musical aesthetic = Wilco, "Jesus, Etc."

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, I dunno, maybe that's a downer. Something by Wilco would fit, though.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

My perpetual spring favorite (well, perpetual since last year when it came out): "Meet Me By the Water," Saturday Looks Good To Me. Motown beat, chanteusey singing, lovel sax solo, dub guitar fade-out, all under three minutes. Perfect. And the first couplet: "Meet me by the water, underneath the big beehive/ Bring your record player and your Raincoats 45s"

spittle (spittle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"lovely" sax solo, that is...

spittle (spittle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

what a lovely song, thanks, spittle

sibsi (sibsi), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That whole album's good, but that's the standout.

spittle (spittle), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine begins, appropriately, with Blossom Dearie. The song is 'This is a fine Spring Morning'.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

the brunettes 'cupid' should be on there, no 70s or rhodes but there is glockenspiel.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

all along the watchtower by jimi hendrix

zoe williams, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

four weeks pass...
There should be some Steely Dan on this! 'Peg' maybe, to maintain the Spring positive vibes?

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Thursday, 22 April 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Evan, Thursday, 18 March 2010 03:10 (sixteen years ago)

Anybody? Hopefully.

Evan, Thursday, 18 March 2010 04:05 (sixteen years ago)

I hope somebody who loves music would talk about loving music with me on I Love Music.

Evan, Thursday, 18 March 2010 13:52 (sixteen years ago)

Your two days early, spring starts March 20, 17:23 GMT. Be patient ;)

willem, Thursday, 18 March 2010 14:44 (sixteen years ago)

True. Though I had to get my mix made to debut with all of the nice weather that is finally happening! Mostly was wondering if anyone else assembled anything in anticipation as well, or if they had an idea of what they are excited to listen to during the nice weather, or if they had past mixes or albums or artists that became staples for springtime.

Evan, Thursday, 18 March 2010 14:51 (sixteen years ago)

wanna upload those songs into a zip file for us meek mortals?

CaptainLorax, Thursday, 18 March 2010 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

I'll work on that! Won't be able to until tomorrow or tonight late.

Evan, Thursday, 18 March 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

alright, thanks man

CaptainLorax, Friday, 19 March 2010 00:06 (sixteen years ago)

juicebox, Friday, 19 March 2010 01:38 (sixteen years ago)

Yes it did! And thanks!

See if this link works Lorax:

http://rapidshare.com/files/365241664/spring.zip.html

You'll have to put the tracks in the order above. Enjoy!

Evan, Friday, 19 March 2010 02:52 (sixteen years ago)

Let me know what you think.

Evan, Friday, 19 March 2010 13:50 (sixteen years ago)

I'm keeping this alive until people want to talk to me about spring music. I'm craving a lot of this at the moment. Any early Guided By Voices material also seems to be doing the trick for me now that its getting nicer. They always seemed like a band that should be played during middle-class suburban backyard barbecues. You know, lots of fresh air and soda.

Evan, Saturday, 20 March 2010 01:10 (sixteen years ago)

I will download it as soon as I can get back to my computer... meanwhile I've been looking for songs for an alternative mix cd I plan on making

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 20 March 2010 01:27 (sixteen years ago)

Upload it when you're all finished!

More mixes please!

Evan, Sunday, 21 March 2010 17:39 (sixteen years ago)

Anybody want to share/talk about this yet?

Evan, Sunday, 4 April 2010 03:00 (fifteen years ago)

Blown A Wish - MBV

kelpolaris, Sunday, 4 April 2010 03:06 (fifteen years ago)

Thats a good one. In the same vein I usually play as much early Lilys material as I can in the Spring. "Periscope" is a winner right now. "Claire Hates Me," "Eskimo," and anything off of the Brief History EP are winners.

Evan, Sunday, 4 April 2010 16:09 (fifteen years ago)

So do people want to start conversing and sharing (more) yet?

Listen to Folkrockish Mix 2 first - I dedicate it to CindyLouHoos (it has a spring mix feel I suppose)

CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 27 April 2010 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

So do people want to start conversing and sharing (more) yet?
― Evan, Monday, April 12, 2010 4:36 AM (2 weeks ago)

I owe to you to listen to your mix again and converse about it

CaptainLorax, Friday, 30 April 2010 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't gathered enough songs for my Alternative mix yet though

CaptainLorax, Friday, 30 April 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

I quickly made a mix of fun upbeat music since all my other mixes lean more towards dreamy and I need some music for excercising. ILXors should recognize at least half these songs. I didn't shoot for obscure stuff here

Fun Mix (79:40 192kbps)

1. Sleater-Kinney - Get Up
2. Quasi - Out Happiness Is Guaranteed
3. Milf - Sell Out (supposed to be on my obscure alternative music mix which isn't finished)
4. Roisin Murphy - Sow Into You
5. Can - I'm So Green
6. The Smiths - This Charming Man
7. Modest Mouse - Paper Thin Walls
8. Weezer - Jamie
9. Red Red Meat - Ball
10. Bjork - Triumph of the Heart (lets give Medulla some props for once)
11. The Flaming Lips - This Here Giraffe
12. Paul McCartney - Monkberry Moon Delight
13. Pixies - Hey
14. Nirvana - Lounge Act
15. The Grifters - Skin Man Palace
16. Lizzy Mercier Descloux - No Golden Throat
17. Led Zeppelin - The Crunge
18. Karate - With Age
19. The Walkmen - The Rat
20. Placebo - Special K
21. Modest Mouse - A Different City
22. Built To Spill - Car
23. Brian Wilson - Vega-Tables

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 15 May 2010 05:28 (fifteen years ago)

Oh wow sorry I didn't even see this until now! Thanks for posting!!

I'll try to make an obscure mix inspired by your inclusion of Milf on there.

Evan, Saturday, 15 May 2010 05:38 (fifteen years ago)

Or mostly obscure... I can't resist the occasional Tobin Sprout (or whatever) song.

Evan, Saturday, 15 May 2010 05:40 (fifteen years ago)

I have your mix downloaded and in a playlist.. I just need to play it again

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 15 May 2010 05:43 (fifteen years ago)

Oh great! I hope you enjoy it! I promise to deliver an obscure mix at some point though as well. Also need to hear yours.

Evan, Sunday, 16 May 2010 00:34 (fifteen years ago)

eleven months pass...

apparently it's the season. maybe I'll make Folkrockish Mix 4

but I want a bongo drum (CaptainLorax), Tuesday, 26 April 2011 23:23 (fourteen years ago)

Oh yes, I've been lazy about it. I'll see if I can get something together!

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Saturday, 7 May 2011 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

Apparently I forgot about that obscure mix plan. Oops!
