The flagship of carioca funk, a kind of Brazilian booty bass, in other words, sensual, sexual and hyper-rhythmic. Fernando's work both as a DJ and producer is a good example of an underground movement that releases its own material and mobilises thousands of people every weekend, who turn up at its parties and tune into the Big Mix radio programme. This is what people dance to in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

there's some good stuff in there - about time villalobos comes back - and i'd assume that the lineup will flesh out between now and then. plus, don't forget that every year there's an increasing number of offsite parties & label showcases. i'm a little surprised at kompakt's absence, but hopefully they'll do something offsite.

The Kompakt party at Nitsa will apparently be w/ Bpitch Control again, as last year. I'm trying to put together a party at a chiringuito (beach cafe) with Falko and M.I.A. of Sub Static, but it's awfully hard to secure venues that week. We shall see. If anyone in BCN wants to help me put this together, get in touch!

Some of dance music's hottest acts will be gathering in London next month to launch this summer's Sonar Festival in Barcelona.

RJD2, Vitalic, Jeff Mills, Richard X, Andy Fletcher (Depeche Mode), DJ Marlboro, DJ Food (Strictly Kev) and DJ 2D2 will all be there to give a flavour of what to expect from the three-day event.

Just got back from Primavera Sound, gorgeous festival, gorgeous city!

Is anybody looking for accomodation partners for Sonar? Some of my friends are quitting out because of finals, and I'm definitely going, just don't want to end up paying an obscene amount of money for a decent place to stay (I'm thinking of renting an apartment for 3 days, the one I got for PS was nice: A/C, just off the Ramblas, 2 beds, etc.).
