this could be some of the most astonishing music i've ever heard.'a darkies awakening', 'a coon band contest'. 'all coons look alike to me' - which apparently had to be changed to that from the less-acceptible-in-1902 'all pimps look alike to me'.
this is all so utterly, utterly ridiculous, so wholly of a different world, it's hard to be offended by someting so completely absurd..
