Usher - Confessions

I know there's been a lot of threads about "Yeah" and stuff, but none yet about the album, right?

I just heard "Throwback", on which Just Blaze recycles the sample/beat from "Want Me Back" from the last State Property album, but it's put to better use here. the mixtape version w/ Jadakiss is alright too.

"Burn" is growing on me, although it's basically a rehash of "U Got It Bad" with weaker lyrics and melody. there are flashes of brilliance in the verses, though.

how's the rest of the album?

"Burn" is godly, definitely better than "U Got It Bad" as a whole (though yeah, really similar). If the third single is awesome, I'm definitely picking this up (Three good singles is usually my breaking point for mainstream albums).

I almost fall to the ground when "Burn" comes on the radio when walking to/from work and I get to hear him cry. Hooo hoo hoo...

I don't know if Ursher can ever top the first 3 singles off 8701.

the crying bit in "Burn" is great but it's balanced by the terrible "what am I gonna do without my boo-oooo" part.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

dang, I really should have bought 8701. He did make the cut that time.

best other song apart from "burn" and "yeah!" is "truth hurts" where he accuses his lady of getting down with another man and then admits halfway through that he's only accusing her because he's been creeping around too, it's like dudes who turn themselves in as serial killers before they've been caught

there's also "confessions part 2," a future classic if there ever was, a tune about how his g/f should take him back because he's enough of a man to admit to her that he's been fucking another girl and knocked her up. "think of how hard this is for meeeeeeee" haha!

"what am I gonna do without my boo-oooo"

thats like the best part!!

It has some good tracks, but is a bit polite I thought. Yeah is easily the best song on it, for me. I'd need to check the tracklist to see the few other good ones.

I always sing it like "what am I gonna do without my booo-urns"

This and the Teena Marie record are making me very happy in a certain special way right now.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I find "Confessions, pt. 2" pretty annoying.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

best track on the whole record!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I just can't get into his selfish bellyaching on that one. Of the three singles its "Burn" that makes me go hoo hoo hoo...

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone know what kind of sneakers he's wearing in the video for "burn"?

It's sold over 9 million copies in the US, I wonder if it will be the LAST album to ever get certified DIAMOND when it finally hits 10.

da croupier, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 05:47 (eighteen years ago)
