Let us now praise Fabolous!

It's the FO BO LO US. Perhaps the perfect pop MC? One minute he's got a Too $hort chorus, another minute he's got a line from Jay-Z's handbook (I'm not trying to beat this arrest/I'm trying to put this piece to your chest) and another moment he's jolting Bad Boys chop-funk. Is there anyone as versatile? And has any of his singles been less than magnificent? I mean.. Superwoman? "If feeling you is a crime they better put me under the jail." Anyone have the album yet? Thoughts?

That song with Nate Dogg is so good I wanna jump out of my seat but I think Fab-o himself is really weak. It's like watching George W. Bush speak - you just know if he veers from the script (20-inch rims, hos, natch) he'll be lost completely. which makes Nate dogg's chorus doubly gratifying. i must admit i haven't heard the other singles.

He sounds like Mase. I like "Can't Deny It" but the Superwoman song is really annoying. And "Fabolous" is the worst name for a rapper ever; it's both gay AND retarted.

I'm not too versed with the hip hop, but isn't it pretty weak to have a guest rapper sing your chorus on your very first single? Not that he didn't pick one of the best...

sure his name is gay but damn it's fun to spell out, and he knows it.

Nate Dogg != rapper. Nate Dogg = R&B singer of choice for hooks on west coast joints.

I thought this question was going to be about Fabulous, the band who released 'Personality Recession', a single I still have somewhere in my collection... oh dear oh dear...

"Can't Deny It" beats "Superwoman." I think he's actually better on "Superwoman," but the track as a whole can seriously grate.

Take Fabolous (yes, that is fun) out of "Can't Deny It" and track R actually improving

three years pass...
he's getting better with age, like they say wine do: check both his verses on "automatic", he even holds his own after those incredible e-40 quadrupletime phonetic workouts! (the track's also got a fairly nice cartoon beat, like the kind eminem used to flow on).

was "real talk" any good (apart from breathe obv)?

Al broke it down on gov't names, didn't sound too hot.

yeah, here's that: http://governmentnames.blogspot.com/2004/12/real-talk-re-real-talktit-4-tatthe.html

it's got some of the worst production I've heard on a fairly big budget album in a while, and there aren't any really hot songs, but some of the better ones have grown on me: In My Hood, Ghetto, Young & Sexy, Can You Hear Me, Holla At Somebody Real, Do The Damn Thang.

four years pass...

listening to 'ghetto fabolous' for the first time since uh 2002 or something probably and it's really good. then again i really love high gloss early/mid 2000s nyc rap and this has a pretty great mix of shameless pop songs, straight-up mc tracks & of course ones that are both at the same time. beats are generally awesome and dude was really spitting back then, altho some of the punchlines are corny he's got like a 90% success rate. seems like so many rap albums that are released nowadays try to copy the blueprint that fab used w/ this to go platinum but still be a respectable rap record

Ghetto Fabolous is album #1 with "Can't Deny It," "Young'n," etc. The one with "Breathe" is album #3, Real Talk.

both gay AND retarted
