in april, i hope. and david banner! and kardinal offishall, also. and melanie durrant, i think that's how it's spelled, and she had a song with common but he wasn't in the video and they had to use a stuffed lion thing. i'm really really excited.

i have the g-unit live mixtape with the "it's familiar!" sound effect dj, i can't remember his name. the between songs and intro talk is the best. young buck tells everyone to put their lighters in the air at the start of many men and says it's about to get really gangsta in here. 50 tells everyone to put the V up before they do victory and says they're about to get into some mixtape shit. it's not very good. but it's almost unbelievable that i'm going to get to see him in person. like, fucking unbelievable. i've gone from sort of indifference to loving him so much and i think about the things he's done and says he's done and the things that have been done to him. i can't think of the way i want to describe it. -- even young buck and lloyd. i can't believe i'm going to see these people.

i would love to see them close-up. on tv, they always show people waiting after concerts when the musicians walk from the place to their bus. i want to try that. right now, thinking about it, i can't believe it will ever happen. i can't believe i'll ever see 50 near enough to touch him. it will probably be cancelled. i'll get a refund a week before. but right now i'm very excited. i listened to beg for mercy twice tonight.

I've heard nothing but good things about Banner live.

djdee2005, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd love to see this show, but probably only because of Saskatchewan.

hstencil, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 05:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Clinton Sparks is the DJ with the annoying-ass sound effect of the little girl saying "get familiar!", btw.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. it's not a great sound effect.

William Wiggins, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, and yet he presses the damn button CONSTANTLY. he does weekly radio shows in several different cities, including Baltimore, and it's by far the most obnoxious, sloppiest mix set I've ever heard on the radio.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

fitty sucks ass live. he is not a talented rapper. don't go.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

where is Saskatchewan Place? it doesn't sound like somewhere easy to get to if you're a UK resident (judging by the e-mail address) - just curious!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

on the other hand, david banner should be good.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe you can wait outside for him and as he walks past brush against his thigh so your willy touches it.

jack who, take what, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

get ready for a noshow!

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

david banner didn't show up. by the time i got there i was really most excited to see him since i knew 50 would kind of suck since i've seen and heard him suck so many times before. i might have been the only person there who noticed that he didn't show up.

melanie durrant was way cooler than you'd think from that song with common that has the muppets video. when her hype man ("when i say melanie, you say durrant....melanie" "durrant!" "melanie" "durrant!") came out everyone thought he was kardinal ("is that that kardinal offishal guy???") but he wasn't. she was beautiful and rocked a bunch of newish dancehall riddim that went in the opposite direction of her voice. she had two dancers, short darkskinned girls dressed in all white who danced so beautifully that i honestly had to try hard not to cry.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

kardinal was spectacular. he had solitair with him and whoever his other guy is. he had all of his hair pulled up into a big round poof on top of his head and looked very handsome. he went off right away and did his grindin verse on the dirt off your shoulders beat and asked "does anyone like ...... dancehall music???" and rode a bunch of newish riddims too and a bunch of superfast back and forth weaving over under superfast acapella stuff with solitair and the other dude and they brought the beat back but only to be interrupted by the sound of a phone ringing!! and the beat stopped and he went over to the dj and picked up the phone. kardi: sup? who this? ahhh. yeah. i'm doin a show right now. in saskatoon. huh? do the ill shit for saskatoon? alright. peace." and the ol time killin beat came in and everyone went crazy. and after he got us to put our black jays up cause we're from canada and even though we're here to see g-g-g-g-g-g-unit we've got to remember where we're from, the nasty north and everyone loved that. at the end he jumped down to the crowd and leaned out and kept rapping and everyone reached up to touch his face and shirt and finger his piece and chain.

i bought a brand new jacket that afternoon. a shiny black reebok coat, red and white lines on the arms. on sale because it's spring but it's still cold enough here to make wearing a coat necessary and it actually snowed today on the drive home. and a red shirt to match. and i wore the red and white weapons that i got when i won $100 a couple weeks ago and hadn't really worn yet, i have nowhere to wear them, and they were just hitting the point where every step doesn't feel like shit because you're so worried about bending them too much and getting them all creased up and they were just hitting the point where the creases are formed and they still look good.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

kardi had the same dancers as melanie durrant but in different clothes. near the end i was sort of standing way over on the side and when they disappeared from the stage they stood behind the big speakers and stretched and danced quietly and privately watched by ugly long blonde hair roadies wearing bad girl go to my room t-shirts and chatting with the paramedics.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

50 was okay. lloyd and buck came out first. the big g-unit beg for mercy sign was unveiled and 50 came out with a towel over his head and two short ugly dudes who were wearing those weird longsleeve undershirts that look a bit like paper towel, thousands of little square pockets. 50 was wearing one of those white shirts with the colourful tops, red rag and yankee fitted. lloyd and buck were wearing the same thing, g-unit jerseys number 50. young buck spun the g-unit piece and switched from side to side with lloyd.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

they did g-unit first and poppin them thangs and i smell pussy and wanna get to know you and if i can't. i walked around the top while they were on most of the time. he threw his white p.i.m.p. hat into the crowd at the end of the song and there was a lot of big confetti stuff and purple lights. 50 said he was surprised by how many live niggas there were because it was a small town but there are a lot of live niggas in here right now and does anyone here have love for biggie? when i say r.i. you say p. and did victory and then asked if anyone had love for tupac in this motherfucker. even bigger applause than biggie got. if you got love for pac then put your two middle fingers up and they did some pac song. i wasn't paying that much attention.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

there were so many toughlooking boys. fat white dudes limping around in jogging suits with fake burberry on them and rough native boys with tears tattooed under their eyes and the name of their reservation on the backs of their shiny black jackets and kids selling weed for way too much by the ice cream window. there were so many beautiful girls. native girls with sparkles all over their all fixed up hair and on their necks and foreheads and dragging around their little brothers in brand new g-unit t-shirts over the shirt they wore to the concert and having perfect method for lighting the joint, holding it cupped down around your waist and lighting it there and puffing it on your lips. pretty white highschool girls with their winterfat still on and little shirts crinkling over fat tummies and folding into bellybuttons, butterfly or maple leaf tattoos on their right shoulder, ugly asshole boyfriends with curly hair. and spectacular women that have real jobs and after it's done their boyfriends will be out front, cruising past the shuttle buses, revving engines, beeping horns in white corvettes or black denalis. and overthehill women with fat breasts and low shirts and weird skirts that are tight on the legs and dancing all weird down with the kids and some men dancing with them.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:54 (twenty-one years ago)

there was a terrible group of breakers and a couple rappers that were on before everyone. they were very bad! they got upset when they were supposed to leave the stage and got their mics cut off and had to be hustled offstage by the guy who eventually came out to twist the caps off the water bottles for 50, lloyd and banks.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i still feel kind of letdown by banner. he seems sort of rarer and more special than 50 kind of. i'm not sure why. niggas might not scream the name of your motherfuckin state on their records but do they cancel their shows too??

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i still bought a best of david banner cd for twenty dollars. mta2 baptized in dirty water tshirts were thirty five dollars.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i forgot to mention one of the best parts. hearing those whoo kid gunshot sound effects at chestrattling volume. crazy. and the coin dropping sound effect to introduce g-unit.

ww, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Who fucking cares?!

Cacaman Flores, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i could use some alka seltzer right now. i'm tired, but i can't sleep. the cats keep coming up to me and begging for attention, but i'm like, guys, i can't give you the attention you crave. that cuban cigar really didn't sit well with me. i hope i don't get sick.

FrankE, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Who fucking cares?!

I do! I enjoyed readng this.
