Against my better judgement I'll ask for your opinion of Mando Diao

I've heard a couple songs of theirs that I have liked but I can't shake the feeling that these guys are putting me on. Is this a CD I want in my collection or one to avoid? Will it even qualify as a guilty pleasure?

I think a few songs are okay, but they are notorious assholes in Sweden, for whatever that's worth. I've heard endless stories from folks over there recounting their various questionable behaviors.

I borrowed it from a friend and listened to it once...it's very retro garagey, but they have a little more of a Motown/Northern Soul influence....had some good songs, very poppy. Not essential, but nice if you like the 60s stuff..

Of all the retro bands, this one has the least updated sound. I probably had more fun reading MD's interviews than I did listening to the music. Find a copy of "Sheepdog" and you'll be all set.

this is mostly correct...it's almost like you've found some lost, unreleased album from the 60s than a new, 60-influenced band...I kinda liked that about it, just sounded like some band that could have been on the Euro/world Nuggets II boxset or something...

four months pass...
they have a new album, anyone know anything about it or how it sounds? i have a feeling they're going to be valiantly average.
