Do you reckon the rapper Stat Quo may have one or two problems being taken seriously in the UK because of his name?

It never stopped Prince Charles and the City Beat band.

Or did it?

I remember thinking that mid-90s rapper The Nonce would have trouble breaking big over here. I liked his LP though.

Stat Quo is currently my favorite rapper on earth. His verses on the last two DJ Green Latern countdown to armageddon mixtapes....the long freestyle he does on the Dr. Dre beat is friiiiiiickin amaaazing!

Status Quo was a character in a terrible TV show called "Off-center" (I think) starring the Korean guy from gross out teen comedies, shitbreak from American Pie and some English guy. He was a studio-gangsta rapper who was "comically" urbane and delicate in real life.

Keep this title but replace "Stat Quo" with "Rick Ross". Although if Mr Ross chipmunks "Dignity" as a hook, we could be looking at a five star classic.

I think Stat Quo has problems being taken seriously in the US.

Looks like he's wearing a dress. And presenting some kind of "Deal Or No Deal" / "Golden Balls" / "take the money open the box" kind of quiz show.

I'm tired of all these "money & bling" rappers - I guess Mail on Sunday readers must eat it up though...

He does a pretty good tribute to Nigel Dempster over the "T.R.O.Y." beat.

at some point on wu-tang forever there is a line (possibly meth) which to my ears genuinely sounded, and still sounds, like "killer cuts from the shropshire". it isn't, of course.

Just wanna point out that upcoming nu-backpack rapper Blu's real name is John Barnes.

You've got to hold and give,
But do it at the right time,
You can be fast or slow,
But you must get to the line
