Define "unsigned".

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought VH1 proclaimed it to be "Flickerstick".. ?

M.O.T.O. Or perhaps M.D.I.D.

David Raposa, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Seriously - My Dad is Dead. Mark Edwards is one of the most incredible lyricists ever. Very original. He's quite frustrated with the music industry. (I hear he's working on a new CD.) "The Taller You Are, the Shorter You Get" is a desert-island disc. "Antisocialist" - rivals any Joy Division song. (That's right, I said it. RIVALS JOY DIVISION!)

'unsigned'>no record company backing>I asked the question after hearing an old schoolmate was on album no.12>she likes the 'process' and writes songs about her friends, schooldays, everyday life.

Raunchy Young Lepers.

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lesbian Dope-Heads on Mopeds

Home, from Florida (tho I think they're signed now?) Their first well- distributed album was called "IX". What happened to them? Great band. Tho given to histrionics.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the obvious answer is my band. A Moon Beneath The Grindsludge

kevin enas, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

IIRC, there are a few home-taper artists that have more than 100 tapes out with no label releases at all, but I can't remember who they are. (No, not R. Stevie Moore. He puts records out on other people's labels every once in a while.)

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sterling called it.

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gloricz Jim>The Netherlands>smart tunes. very impressive. Also Jimmy Barock, with the same location (give or take 100 km's) and for the same reason.

Ariƫn, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Flying Luttenbachers. Mr. Quintron.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 23 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm "sorry" to say, Tracer, that both the Luttenbachers and Mr. Quintron are taken, last I heard (by Troubleman Unlimited and Skin Graft, respectively).

And who are these Raunchy Young Lepers that Sterling and Brian love so? (Or are you phreex listing prolific bands that ain't all that?)

Brian MacDonald, Thursday, 25 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yup, RYL. They're real (or were real). They were prolific. BOW DOWN!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 25 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And if you want to order the Simon and Garfunkel Shoot Up Salt Through Their Wangs! set, which you should, as it is cheap, go here. Buy everything else too, ya lazy bastards. ;-)
