Limited to 1000 each gig, apart from Coachella which is 2000.

Apparently, you can preorder them too.

And if you're quick, you may get it before you go to the gig...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 2 April 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope no-one buys them.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

According to The Pixies official website, there's also a new best of called Wave Of Mutilation out soon.

This will actually duplicate 16 of the 17 tracks on 1997's Death To The Pixies (abeit with alternative versions of some tracks), include a couple of "rare" B-Sides (which of course are already available on the 2001 Complete B-Sides) and increase the total number of tracks to 23.

What the hell's the point of that (and if they can get another 6 tracks on a CD now, why didn't the bastards do it in 1997)?

The DVD looks as if it might be interesting 'though...

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What the hell's the point of that

To get a glistening double-dong into the hearts and minds of everyone worldwide.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

if you listen closely you can hear the sound of teats being gleefully milked...

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"To get a glistening double-dong into the hearts and minds of everyone worldwide."

Nothing to do with their wallets then, you reckon?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Those are hard to fit into wallets.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"Their willingness to be "guided" by their manager, their record company and their producers is unparalleled. Never have I seen four cows more anxious to be led around by their nose rings."

Steve Albini on Le Pixies in '91

hmmm (hmmm), Friday, 2 April 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"Those are hard to fit into wallets."

Not if those wallets are capacious and bulging with crisp new notes, surely?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 April 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Besides, I think I'd rather try to find room for one into my wallet than have it rammed brutally and forcefully into my heart or mind.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 April 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What the hell's the point of that ?

4ad needs to make up for the losses they're going to make on Vinny Miller.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 2 April 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

can't we find another mediocre band to go bat-shit over?

Im reserving my Gas Huffer Reunion Ticket NOW!

ddb, Friday, 2 April 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I kiss Ned for making me laugh so early in the morning.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 2 April 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Why does anyone take Steve Albini seriously? That guy is such an anti-pop borecore asshole.

I'm not clear on this - are they making a special cd for the gigs, or is it the greatest hits cd, or are they selling live recordings of the show immediately after it is over?

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Friday, 2 April 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea but they're limited so I need to get them!!!!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 2 April 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

OUT OF MY WAY! I'LL TAKE 9!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 2 April 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

borecore vs. joycore.

ddb, Friday, 2 April 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This is hopeless.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 2 April 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

makeabuckbecauseourotherbandsaren'tcore vs. joycore

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

pixies are in it for the money. frank black has made it quite clear in numerous interviews as of late

kephm, Friday, 2 April 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The Pixies were never a very strong live band.

southern lights (southern lights), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

hit or miss really.

kephm, Friday, 2 April 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

how dare they try to make money! charlatans!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

there's nothing wrong with making money as long as the "product" has value, which in the case of the Pixies is rather doubtful seeing as live they were always a bit crap.

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I kiss Ned for making me laugh so early in the morning.

Rah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the excitement of the show will be in the being there, and a recording of it might only fuck with that. Although who knows, maybe they really got their shit together for this.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't imagine anyone buying one of these without buying all the others, too. After all, the Pixies were such giants of improv, routinely stretching their songs in all kinds of fascinating ways live...right? I mean, this is something more than an 80s-indie-holdovers' version of Songs Of Faith And Devotion Live, Vols. 1-16, isn't it?

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ripping off half-baked ideas from jam bands can only lead to misery and ruin.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

OTM, sadly (String Cheese Incident, once again you are to blame)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to blame everything wrong with the world on the String Cheese Incident, and I may end up being right.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

works for me

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

A fine and noble philosophy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I blame Psychic TV and their 23 Live Recordings.

Stephen Boyle (SBoyle), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the whole thing with the Pixies tour is that it doesn't matter if they are great so long as they are adequate - the fans love the songs and just want to hear them live. It's as much about the band cashing in as it is about giving the people what they want. Either way, fair enough. It's a win-win situation.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Friday, 2 April 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hoping a bunch of people will wear Breeders t-shirts just to piss off Frank Black.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 2 April 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

frank coming out and saying he needs money makes the reforming a bit easier to go down (for me). he just went through a divorce and doesn't really know what to do with himself.
i just hope he plays a song or two with his powerpuff girls guitar

(joey is the one to watch at any rate)

kephm, Friday, 2 April 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

oh and how will the live cds be rare in the soulseek world we live in?

kephm, Friday, 2 April 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, slsk changes things considerably.

But hey, if there are going to be high quality recordings of all the shows on the tour, that's a great thing for fans.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Friday, 2 April 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hoping a bunch of people will wear Breeders t-shirts just to piss off Frank Black.

That would be classic.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 April 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i doubt he would care

kephm, Friday, 2 April 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

This isn't about him. This is about me. ; )

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 2 April 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously though...is there anything less inspiring than the idea of patchy live recordings of a band who are patchy live, doing it for the money, in their 40s, destroying any semblance of mystique they had left?

imagine how bored kim will look playing the chorus notes of "money gone to heaven."

then imagine picturing her looking bored as you listen to 12 different patchy versions on 12 different "bootleg" CDs.

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 2 April 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That must be that slacker revival I've heard them talk about so much lately.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...
well, who bought any of these? how are they? will the breeders reunion be doing this too?

mig (mig), Thursday, 2 December 2004 04:10 (twenty years ago)

I ordered a copy of their Fuji Rock Festival performance, but I haven't got it yet. To all the haterz upthread: They fucking rocked and the look on Kim's face was one of pure enjoyment, not boredom. If they are just doing it for the money, then keep touring 'cause they can have as much of mine as they want.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Thursday, 2 December 2004 08:18 (twenty years ago)

They are probably selling the Breeders t-shirts on the merchandicey stall.
