Very Likely: The Unicorns, The Strokes

Maybe: The Rapture, Liz Phair, 50 Cent, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, John Fahey

No Bloody Way: Jay-Z, Ryan Adams

David Banner's Mississippi: The Album Screwed And Chopped is the only contender I've heard, and even that wouldn't have gotten further than #10.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 2 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No offense meant, but how the hell did you not hear 50 Cent until 2004?

Huck, Saturday, 3 April 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't heard the full-length yet either. He didn't sell THAT many copies.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 3 April 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Missy Elliott "This Is Not a Test" - would have had a pretty good shot at my top 10 had I heard it last year.

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 3 April 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

as soon as I buy that I'm guessing I'll agree.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 3 April 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't hesitate. It's great. Much more consistent than some of the reviews led me to believe too. Some pretty amazing minimal Timbaland beats and Missy is one of the best MCs at making a personality come through that feels real.

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 3 April 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

damn, you guys have shit taste in music.

jp, Saturday, 3 April 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Jay-Z

WTF!? That's my number one album of last year...how does that deserve to be shit on!? I can understand someone thinking its average, but jesus.

Anyway, T.I.'s "Trap Muzik" shoulda made my list. And Ulrich Schnauss.

djdee2005, Saturday, 3 April 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Brother Ali wouldn't have made my top 10, but it's definitely my #1 2003 heard in 2004

chris herrington (chris herrington), Saturday, 3 April 2004 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Big Tymers-Big Money Heavyweight

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Saturday, 3 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What djdee said.

Sym (shmuel), Saturday, 3 April 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

TI - Trap Muzik seconded.

Also: Fiery Furnaces, Sufjan Stevens

Josh Love (screamapillar), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Aereogramme would have made my top 10.

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The Shins, maybe.

Rollie Pemberton (Rollie Pemberton), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

nothing!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I might as well ask my TI related question here, since the TI threads themselves seem rather google-happy, but is his album worth checking out if you're currently incapable of listening to "Rubberband Man" all the way through?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Considering I think Rubberband Man is one of the top 5 singles of the year so far, I may not be the person to ask, but I absolutely love it. Cut "24s" and the Jazze Pha track and it would be perfect.

djdee2005, Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Cut "24s"????????? Dude.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, "24s" is glorious.

Sym (shmuel), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Japanther and DM + Jemini. I've had Angels of Light for about a year now, but it didn't hit me as a really fucking wonderful album until a couple weeks ago.

Alex Pittman (Alex Pittman), Sunday, 4 April 2004 01:12 (twenty-one years ago)

24s is borrrring.

djdee2005, Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

That Grand National EP is pretty good, I only heard it the other week.

Mil, Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Morten Abel's "Being Everything, Knowing Nothing" popping up in my 2003 Top 10 was hardly a surprise considering both of his previous efforts were there in 1999 and 2001. However, it took me until 2004 until I got to hear the album properly.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 4 April 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Fever to Tell

Snnap Dragon (snnap dragon), Sunday, 11 April 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

The Shins. That album hasn't been off my cd player since I received it about a month ago

jellybean (jellybean), Sunday, 11 April 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

24s is borrrring.

I've changed my mind, I was just being obstinate. Rubber Band Man is much better, but yeah 24s is pretty great.

djdee2005, Sunday, 11 April 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Rinocerose - Music Kills Me (The Rapture remix)

Nik (Nik), Sunday, 11 April 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, i didn't get to hear either The Present Lover or the N.A.S.T.Y. mix until very early 2004, and they are two of my favorite things ever.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 11 April 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I finally got the Missy Elliott album and it MAYBE would have made #10. But #1-9 on my list feel pretty solid.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 11 April 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

@d@ml I love you.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

@d@ml will you make me a copy of the N.A.S.T.Y. mix?
