Why did Unrest name an album after Pussy Galore?

And why did they name their band and record label after Henry Cow?

And why do fools fall in love?

Pussy Galore used to perform a song called "Fuck Ian Mckaye" when they were a DC band. I don't know how to spell "Mckaye."

Pussy Galore were a DC band before moving to NYC. When they arrived at the big city, they had a lot to say about how they didn't fit into the DC cliques, DC was lame, it's so good to be in a real sexy, nasty rock and roll town, etc. Part of the supermyth becomes that they were too cool for DC.

Many years later, along comes Unrest, and they fit into the cliques just fine and started a few new ones. Hey, being squeaky clean and writing songs about kickball is fun, but we're not too nice not to fire off a warning shot at the dirtball posers in Pussy Galore. Pow!

I guess it could have just have easily been "Fuck Bad Brains and all their friends."

At the end of the day, though....Unrest were precious little fun, whereas Pussy Galore were a libidinous, foul-mouthed, filthy, raucous, loud, obnoxious, angry maelstrom of enjoyment.

Neil Haggerty & Jenny Toomey open a bed & breakfast on the Potomac -- hilarity ensues!

get out....really?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no, didn't mean to scare you, but anything seems possible in the wake of Garfield: the Motion Picture.

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahahahahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Now if only Royal Trux did the soundtrack to that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

If Bugskull can do the soundtrack to a movie based on syndicated comic strip Crock, anything is possible.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

THEN LET THE DREAM COME TRUE.
