"I Live in L.A.

... and then ...

I Love L.A."

Actually, To Live and Shave in L.A. formed in 1990. They went on hiatus in 2000. Two seperate, discrete units called To Live and Shave in L.A. 2 then formed. (One was helmed by Weasel Walter; the other, by Jared Klauder, a very cynical vehicle expressly designed to attack Walter's comedic take on TLASILA 2). In the following weeks, To Live and Shave in L.A. 3 began (featuring members from both editions of TLASILA 2!). Then the dam burst - at least for a few months... There was Born in East L.A., To Live and Shave in L.A. 1975, I Love in L.A. (the first of all the spin-off groups to actually perform live; they're now quite well known under the moniker - wait for it - Hair Police!), and I Love L.A., which was formed by Wolf Eyes' Aaron Dilloway(!). Then the trend abated... The original TLASILA re-formed in 2004. Thus, the circle of life continues...

inglorious (rat) bastard, Monday, 5 April 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, didn't mean that "then" chronologically, but then I shouldn't have used "then" then.

Joshua Houk (chascarrillo), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

For a long time I used to go to bed early; Sometimes, when I had put out my candle, my eyes would close so quickly that I had not even time to say "I'm going to sleep." And half an hour later the thought that it was time to go to sleep would awaken me; I would try to put away the book which, I imagined, was still in my hands, and to blow out the light; I had been thinking all the time, while I was asleep, of what I had just been reading, but my thoughts had run into a channel of their own, until I myself seemed actually to have become the subject of my book: a church, a quartet, the rivalry between François I and Charles V. This impression would persist for some moments after I was awake; it did not disturb my mind, but it lay like scales upon my eyes and prevented them from registering the fact that the candle was no longer burning.

chris andrews (fraew), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

rhythm of black lines

i made up a band called "this city will eat you alive" but i dont think this would count.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

So the thing is, except for interjections, a complete sentence in English needs a verb (and usually, but not always, a subject; but always a verb). Without a verb you have a phrase.

So "not really anything," "massive stereo sellout," "a handful of dust," "out of the compost," "rhythm of black lines," you get the drift, are not complete sentences.
