Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred can't read. Shhhhhh, it's a secret.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred probably has more time to read this stuff these days, I'm sure.

*tries imagine article out there, somewhere, where Fred and Kanye say they hang around here all the time*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

No, Fred Durst doesn't look at these questions...not directly, anyway. Since he's the singer of Limp Bizkit AND the Vice President of Interscope Records, Durst is much too busy for that. As is standard procedure in the entertainment industry, he (like the other members of Limp Bizkit) has a small army of about thirty professionals who spend their days monitoring websites like this one. If they come across an inquiry that seems especially salient or timely, they'll communicate it to him via his Blackberry device on his private hovercraft, and he'll give an answer (if he feels like it), usually verbally, maybe within a day or two, often depending on whether he's on tour or not. The assistant will then type in his response (editing it judiciously, of course, as Durst is widely known and loved for his anger management issues) in Durst's name. As you would imagine, Durst has stated in a number of interviews that he feels incredibly about relying on this very indirect method of keeping up with his fans, but such is the price of being the lead singer of the most popular band in the world since Kiss.

private hovercraft

He can't afford that these days. Instead it's a rickshaw pulled by Chesney Hawkes and Jimmy Ray.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(Could some moderator insert "guilty" after "incredibly" in my last post, maybe?)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I sorta like the way it looks now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

NED. Come on. He was able to buy one last year thanx to wild success of Interscope recording artists The Jurassic Five.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 3 April 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

he bought one of those 'make your own hovercraft' kits in the back of popular mechanics.

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 3 April 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am chastened.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess it all depends if you want an answer from Fred Durst or Durst-tron 4000, his robotic counterpart who has been making most of his public appearence for the past few years now.

Al questions must be submitted in binary code, however.

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 3 April 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to school, w/ a kid called al questions.

That's better.

m.e.a. (m.e.a.), Saturday, 3 April 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I doubt it with the gravest possible sincerity.

At least Nicholas is asking. What does explain the sudden influx of googlers who think ILM is a personal hotline to the stars? I mean we've had random googlers for ages but this particular phemomenon seems new and v.odd.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Typing "ask kanye west a question" into Google gets an ILM page as the 3rd result. Typing "ask fred durst a question" into Google gets an ILM page as the 9th result. "pimp my ride questions" is 6th. And so on. Looks like typing "question" + "[Insert Pop Culture Phenomenon Here]" is likely to pull up an ILX link.

I've heard there are certain people who post here that apparently have a striking resemblance to the man. They may even be reading these messages now.
