Also, this was a BYOB pary and most of them were sober.

SO BAD.

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

They had a lyric "Bush! Bin Laden smething something they be plottin"

No Mumia bu Jamal mentions though. Then they had a song they sent out to WOMEN everywhere that was mostly about sweatshop labor. Then they said that college administrations shut down their shows a lot because they're telling the truth.

Also, look at the ART!!#@!@!

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

were they on def jux

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

pls, Jux has no time for "In A World Gone Mad" tribute acts

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

DID YOU SEE THE ART?

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

"suggested perspectives", how free thinking they are!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Well at least it got a file not found.

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the name of their homepage

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

movement in motion really sounds like the name of a parody band

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh MAN MAN MAN, that front page really needs some work in the HTML department! It's needlessly bloated by being sliced up full of little cells with 16-bit image files that would load faster and just *look* better if they were 8-bit or even 2-bit. (And the text in the bottom image is formatted all cock-eyed!) According to MS FrontPage, it takes 72 seconds to load if you're using a 56.6 modem. If they love the people so much, they should design the site for people who can't afford broadband!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The revolution will not be narrowcast.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The dude laying down beats looked like he had some kind of really pricey AKAI sampler that I wanted to steal!!!

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

"In the name of information, we offer energy and rhythm to the developing global peace movement."

j. pantsman (jpantsman), Saturday, 3 April 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

because that's the one thing preventing world peace, lack of rhythm

j. pantsman (jpantsman), Saturday, 3 April 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"Dropping beats, images, thoughts and events, not bombs"

Ahahahahah

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Saturday, 3 April 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish would leaders would just realize that they should be dropping EVENTS not bombs.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

But they'll never know, but college admins keep shutting down the truth.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i suspect michael franti is involved somehow

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Mindflayer sez: "Drop Bass Not Bombs"

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, jon, tons of drunk girls in sweatshop made clothing and you're here with us?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Jess, they weren't very drunk

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

like every night of my life

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

This is my favorite part of their upcoming events calender:

April 20 - 27 Indiana to California
April 27 - May 17 California

so are they just going to pop out of the student courts of every California university for a month a la the Tomorrowland Disney players?

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, if Tiffany can do it...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG, how can they NOT be from the Bay Area?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Welcome to my world.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

You regularly perform hip-hop in front of drunk girls?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if someone is going to write an "OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE" for shitty touring college hip hop acts and jam bands.

That said, the jam band that played that night was pretty good from the last song of their set I saw. I wanna steal their guitarist for my band because it would sound like the (first album) 90 Day Men and Can then!

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned - Totally. And I play hackysack while doing that. They are stunned into drunken silence.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned - Totally. And I play hackysack while doing that. They are stunned into drunken silence.

My, so am I! And I'm not even drunk!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The pressing question is, Jon, were any of their songs worse than that Beastie Boys anti-war track?

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if someone is going to write an "OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE" for shitty touring college hip hop acts and jam bands.

"Perhaps the band that has never gotten the true respect among its peers that it deserves, both for their hardworking attitude and their good time music, is the Samples."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't heard it, but I assure you they were.

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be so sure, Jon. I dare you to hear the beasties song in question.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

URL?

Also, is this BACKPACKER?

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel your pain jon

there was a terrible political hip hop band at my school, they made raps out of nikki giovanni poems and stuff

amateur!st (amateurist), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

why are political rap acts so godawful?

amateur!st (amateurist), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Because they all wear stupid fucking hats.

When the Amish rock

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 April 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds like the title of a response record to Numan's "When the Machines Rock"

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Sunday, 4 April 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Which would be even more pointed now that I think about it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 April 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't know which would be more alarming

"people.. who would normally avoid political debate are tempted to bop their heads to a progressive beat"

don, Sunday, 4 April 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

some people should not attempt sideburns.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's usually advisable to make sure the sideburns connect with the rest of the scalp.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

bet those guys are swimming in chicks though

don, Monday, 5 April 2004 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

What's a progressive beat?

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm tempted to say it's an elaborate form of masturbation, but that's crude so i won't.

don, Monday, 5 April 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Will there be undie hip-hop guilt in 5 years like there is indie guilt today?

The Rebukes of Hazard (mjt), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"in 5 years"

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

no, there will just be seething passive-aggression

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)
