How heavily influnced were Metro Area? the basslines are almost identical!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Not mocking them or anything, I love both records.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably not. If so, definately not intentional. They both like Bobby Orlando, though.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a really clear similarity to me. I guess I was asking the question to see if others noticed it.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i have now!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 3 April 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I hear it, but still don't think it's intentional. I don't think Morgan even owns the record but maybe Darshan came up with the bassline. I'll ask. btw, my claim to fame-the electric piano and organ were recorded in my apt "studio". Still waiting for the royalties check...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

haha cool! some friends of mine have stuff coming out on Soma soon so I can have similar claims. though I don't know if you get royalties for sharing whiskey or putting bangalter/falcon records on repeat at other peoples parties, heh

anyone heard the DJ Hell mix of West End Girls by the way? Not sure it's anything other than a polite update. Still kind of cool, though I think any attempts to DANCEise West End Girls is always going to tamper with the subtlety of the original.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

the bassline in the verse of West End Girls is the one I mean by the way. fantastic bassline though. Someone could do an awful bootleg.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

whoa, far-fetched!! Someone's had too much spare time... I love both though.

Go and fuck a goat.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 5 April 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

OOh, I would if I could!!.. but I'd have to get a strap-on in that case, haha

Nikki25, Monday, 5 April 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yeesh....sorry it's been an awful day!

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 5 April 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, well I'm sorry too...poor goats! You should really join an animal right's association ;-)

Have a better day tomorro

Nikki25, Monday, 5 April 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

not sure it's anything other than a polite update

sure, but you could say the same about playgroup's cover of "behind the wheel" and that was one of 2002's big tunes (for me anyway).

vahid (vahid), Monday, 5 April 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you heard it dude? I quite like it I guess. That's kind of the trend now though eh? Re-edits!

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 5 April 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

"sure, but you could say the same about playgroup's cover of "behind the wheel" and that was one of 2002's big tunes (for me anyway)."

I approved of this update too - any excuse to get DJs to play "Behind The Wheel"!! (and I loved the update even before I knew it was co-produced by Pearson!)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I had bigger hopes for the Hell edit of "West End Girls" but ended up passing on it at the shop -- it did seem awfully polite. Cheeky, but politely so. I'd rather just play the original (which I've been looking for for a while now, actually). An edit I *would* like to hear is of Human League's "Seconds" -- preferably a set of remixes/edits by, say, Sascha Funke, Ellen Allien, Superpitcher, and Carl Craig...

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep playing tracks off the Human League dub/mix album, League Unlimited Orchestra and people keep acting like it's some crazy obscure thing and not just the most awesome and perfect collection of radical dance mixes of Dare-era Human League from Martin Rushnent. So good...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you secretly Richard X, Dan?

That Playgroup cover really underwhelms me, I'll relisten tonight maybe.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the only mash-ups I ever do alwasy involve O Superman.
