Thinking Plague - A History of Madness

I just got this. Does anyone else have this? I've only heard In This Life before. It took me a couple listens but I'm really starting to hear a lot in this. It's less 'catchy' than In This Life and is very overtly inclined towards bridging the gap between avant-prog and modern composition - a couple tracks are highly chromatic solo piano pieces. The use of electronic processing is pretty neat, particularly on track 8 where the sound of applause after a saxophone solo morphs into the sound of rushing water. The singing is great. Track 2 demonstrates the band's continued interest in making 'sensual avant-prog', ha.

Okey, I have it also. Quite like the first half or so. Not quite so fond of the latter half, though.
...Which at the mo' is all the words I can muster on the topic. (Sorry)

still don't have this. need to get it, but I've been busy catching up with the incredible bob drake solo records.

'in extremis' might catch on with me someday but every time I think of listening to it I end up putting on 'in this life' instead.

t\'\'t, you don't like "Lux Lucet"? I thought it was maybe the best song on the album.

(after a quick memory-check-recheck)

Sundar - no, not particularly.

It's not as good as the preceding two but I think this album's severely underrated

This came up in my bandcamp feed because I'm following the Thinking Plague tag. Mike Johnson plays guitars on it. There's.. quite a bit going on here. The last and longest song In Hand an immediate standout. I'd buy the CD if shipping wasn't £32.

Looked up the singer and previous credits include both Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut and Cartman's Mom is Still a Dirty Slut, fwiw.

I guess they'd made this public prematurely. It's private for now, the release date is the 26th.

Lots of good things to say about it though. The singer is excellent by the way, as is all the musicianship. Vivid violin and cello arrangements, reminiscent of Hounds Of Love type stuff at times, especially on Audio Love. In Hand is the prog monster with verses in 11/8 and a back half which plays out with a beautiful winding Fripp-esque guitar solo, and then into what sounds like a recording lifted from a scratchy old Folkways record incorporated amazingly well into the end of the song. It's a cool song, technical details aside.
