I don't even know if you are asking about Baltimore club stuff or what, but if you are, this is older stuff that i like. i live on a friggin' island in the ocean now, so i'm a little out of it.

anyway, the new "guy from Baltimore who is supposed to blow up" is Bossman. His "Law & Order" album is out now and it's actually pretty good from what I've heard so far. Anyone else heard it?

it's really good, get it. also, I interviewed Comp last year:
http://governmentnames.blogspot.com/2004/11/government-names-exclusive-interview.html
I think people are counting Comp out just because he's been signed for so long but hasn't made any real noise yet, but that's how big labels are, especially Def Jam. like Joe Budden, he was signed for like 2 years before he got a serious mixtape buzz and a big single (ok, bad example, but you know what I mean). but from what he told me, Comp is just starting to get serious meetings with L.A. Reid in the first quarter. hopefully he can get out of label purgatory and get some shine this year.

good to hear Comp is still in it. Def Jam is notorious for that shit (Tical 0?). Are you gonna interview Bossman?

but yeah, eman, you probably know the geography better than me. even when I know where I am in the city, I don't really know what's south and what's north, besides the obvious parts. I think in that part of the song he's just naming parts of the whole city though, not just places in relation to where he's repping.

I recognize Baltimore actors on that from the local theater I go to when I'm there, Center Stage:http://www.citypaper.com/arts/story.asp?id=9529

Skarr Akbar is a really good local MC who's had a recurring role on the show. Michael K. Williams (who plays Omar) did drops on a Bossman mixtape and seems to know a lot of other MCs around here. and there's an article in the current issue of Scratch about Idris Elba (who plays Stringer Bell), who apparently is also a producer and a DJ.

DJ Technics has had some tracks used in the show recently. I think he even has an e.p. out called "In The Wire." There also a party scene in the series The Corner that features Miss Tony's "Get Ya Guns Out" (been trying to find a mix cd with this track). I keep meaning to use these blank tapes I have to record some 92Q mixes.
Al, thanks for the info. where are you in Bmore?

man, I haven't looked at the DJ Technics site in a while, I've been linking it forever but didn't realize they actually have content besides a guestbook now. I didn't know he did "Don't Make Me Kill" (w/ the 8Ball & MJG sample), that's easily my favorite club track of the past year.
