Taking Sides: War Pigs vs Master of Puppets

Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away.
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,
making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

Now in darkness world stops turning,
ashes where the bodies burning.
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, God is calling,
on their knees the war pigs crawling.
Begging mercies for their sins,
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings.

-------------------------------

End of passion play, crumbling away
I’m your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You’re dedicated to
How I’m killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master

Master of puppets I’m pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can’t see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror

Master, master, where’s the dreams that I’ve been after?
Master, master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear and see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season

It is entirely dependent on the drugs of which type one is under the influence of at the time.

Neither of these are particularly good songs. Both bands did a lot better.

Master of Puppets, even tho I've never tried cocaine.

War Pigs is great, but I will sing the praises of "Puppets"
until the end of time.

Oh, how could I possibly choose. Probably my favorite epics from each band.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Both fantastic, but I suggest a better juxtaposition would be "War Pigs" and "Disposable Heroes" (similar themes, after all).

Hell, identical themes, really.

I'd have to side with 'War Pigs' just because when I was first learning to play drums many moons ago, I was obsessed with Bill Ward, and still probably resemble him stylistically more than anyone else.

He sure was great, wasn't he?

haha- when I first tried to learn drums, one of the first things I taught myself was to play that beat at the beginning of "Behind the Wall of Sleep". I love it!! I could play it for hours.

Also his performance on "Hand of Doom" is awesome. He was masterful at dealing with the band's slow tempos - no mean feat.

Broheems (diamond), Friday, 9 April 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I think rhyming "masses" with "masses" beats rhyming "faster" with "faster." So, "War Pigs" wins. Also, I just heard it on the radio yesterday, so it's fresh in my mind.
