Beans VS. Beans: Stop Confusing Me! !@$%#!&!!1

Okay anyone who talks about hip hop needs to find a new nickname for Beanie Sigel than "Beans" cause then I think you're talking about that guy from the Antipop Consortium and I'm like "Wha? He sucks!" and then people look at me like I'm crazy.

Or maybe I should just forget that the lame Beans exists and only think of Beanie when people say "Beans".

yeah dude, i think beanie sigel probably deserves the name more than the name more than the anti-pop guy.

Beans from Anti-Pop is pretty awesome...Beanie Sigel is headed for jail.

I always confuse Beanie Sigel with Beanie Babies.

what about Beans from Canada?

echoing Cutty's sentiments...

Yeah, Beans from Canada played some 48hr concert. They've got three good songs: Hollow Stars, Vent du Nord and I Breathe the Air From Other Planets.

There's also a mod-rock-revival Beans, possib. from the U.S.

Beans was pretty good in APC, but the solo record wasn't really mindblowing.

"yeah dude, i think beanie sigel probably deserves the name more than the name more than the anti-pop guy"

ppppppppppppffffffffffffftttttttt. what's the premise? inverse suburban clout? beans used to rap with DMX at one time in his life, in upstate NY. so by that standard maybe you'll think he's cooler now. or less cool/ more REAL. yeeeaaahhh

duke plains, Friday, 9 April 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Shouldn't you be filling my backordered Mutamussik EP?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 9 April 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought Beans was the least impressive MC in Antipop, Nath. Your right about the solo record.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 9 April 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

filling? sounds as if you're full, tiger.

duke music, Friday, 9 April 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, PRIEST - there was an MC. Have you guys ever heard his solo 12"? Ghost in the Drum Machine? Rules

beans, beans the magical fruit
the more you eat the more you toot
i forget this line of the song but it ends in "eal"
so remember to eat beans with every meal

beans beans they're good for your heart
the more you eat the more you fart
once again you know the deal
eat beans with every meal

i actually feel like sayyid was the most conventionally able of them three. he seemed like he could be comfortable on any new hot 97 jam of the time. aesthetic decisions on the part of priest and beans were just that, decisions. it was not because they weren't able to pull off something more straightforward and "following the rules." it was because they were/are bored by that. most underground indie hop you get the feeling that an avant tack is being taken because the dj/producer/mc can't hack it, and the genre becomes about inveighing against the perceived hegemony of these "mainstream" standards. i have a friend who is in a scene in oakland like this, and we argue about it so i know.

duke pro, Friday, 9 April 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Sayyid was always the one who had the catchiest tracks, definitely.

a scene in oakland like this

so one time like 4yrs ago i'm in stacey's bookstore on market and i'm reading the music magazine and these two kids pick up magazines near me and i start a conversation asking them if they make music. they tell me their part of anticon. this is before i'd heard any of it and all i had heard was my friend once called it backpacker, which i didn't even know what that was at the time, so i said i'd heard it was backpacker, not knowing it was a put down and i also said all they cared about was lyrics and not beats. needless to say i never really became friends with those guys.

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 9 April 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

their = they're. duh

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 9 April 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say you were lucky, but I don't know any of those guys personally.
