What an incredible game. More of an epiphany than a game.
Such a haunting, unforgettable experience.
And the last scene...so beautiful.
The music is so intense, too -
some of it was excerpted from Tchaikovsky, but I think the
rest is original, and it's all good.

I loved this game back in the day, but it is not quite as classic as the first Monkey Island game.

Ditto and then some. Sam and Max, DotT, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango all pushed the envelope and increased play time.
I do remember liking how you had to actually learn to play the instrument to play the game, tho...

I had this on the Amiga, I remember it came with a cassette of the music.

I can't remember what happened at the end though. And why did the main guy look like a clan member?

Monkey Island II was supposed to have a revolutionary music system that adjusted the score according to what was happening in the game. It never quite worked when you were playing the game from 12 floppy disks with only one drive though.

I think I finished Loom.

I played LOOM on the Atari ST computer, which had excellent
graphics and built-in MIDI. So the graphics and music were
epic for their time. I never played the DOS version, did it
have MIDI or just PC Speaker music?

Anyway, this is what happened at the end

SPOILER

The hero chose to turn himself into a swan so that he could be
with his village.

SPOILER

Into a swan, permananently, I got the impression. Which was
strange but fitting and almost touching.

I think this is one of the first games I ever saw on CD-ROM. I was completely floored by the fact that the game talked.

One of the few games I finished. Not LucasArts' finest, but I kept that "weaving music" concept with me...

lucas arts was amazing. they had a slew of awesome games around that time period. totally rewrote the book and stole sierra's hold on puzzle adventure games.

recommended: the fatman's guide to game audio.
