Do we have a thread called "songs you somehow realize were covers?" I could have sworn there was one but I can't find it.

Anyway, this week alone:

-"Somebody's Gonna Get Their head Kicked In Tonight" is a Fleetwood Mac song?!?

-Also had no idea that Dave Alvin wrote Robert Earl Keen's "Fourth of July" (one of my dad's favorite songs) and also had no idea it was originally recorded by X (a band I am only familiar with up to Under The Big Black Sun)

Yeah, it's the highpoint of "See How We Are," when Alvin took over for Billy Zoom.

(Actually, he didn't take over, that was Tony Gilkyson, but Alvin was definitely in the orbit and on the record.)

This one's getting a little more obscure, but I was disappointed when I learned that my favorite Let's Active song wasn't their song at all. And unlike most of the examples above, in the case, I think the original is actually better.
