I can't wait to hear this. Great album title too -- has nobody ever used that?!

Taxi Dancing in the Soft Prison (Ben Boyer), Friday, 1 October 2004 20:06 (twenty years ago)

T.I. is without a doubt my favorite rapper right now

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Friday, 1 October 2004 23:16 (twenty years ago)

me and djdee in opinion-sharing shocker

Symplistic (shmuel), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:12 (twenty years ago)

the first single is called "Bring Em Out", not "Break Em Out". I haven't heard it, but I hadn't heard anything about Jay being on it.

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 2 October 2004 16:03 (twenty years ago)

god i was driving when i heard it ok

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 2 October 2004 20:47 (twenty years ago)

he just does the hook. not notable, except for how he pronounces "barrel" just like pharrell!

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 2 October 2004 20:48 (twenty years ago)

sounds like it's probably just a sample of the "so the rings and things you sing about, bring em' out, it's hard to yell when them barrels in ya mouth" line from "What More Can I Say".

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 2 October 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago)

YEAH! god that's why it's so familiar :(. so i guess he's "on" this track like enya was "on" that mario winans song

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 2 October 2004 21:03 (twenty years ago)

""""

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 2 October 2004 21:03 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
this song is officially so good it makes me jump on my bed.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:50 (twenty years ago)

Al have you heard the new Slim Thug album? It leaked.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:53 (twenty years ago)

i've only heard 3 Kings, i dunno much about him. should I DL the songs on so many shrimp?

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:56 (twenty years ago)

definitely. There's too much neptunes on the album as a whole but the songs Serg put up are pretty good.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:57 (twenty years ago)

This T.I. song is cool by the way. T.I. sounds good over horns.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:58 (twenty years ago)

Its weird though he reminds me of Joe Budden

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 23:12 (twenty years ago)

Joe Budden and TI are both good! I don't get the hateration.

Okay so I've only ever heard "Pump It Up" and "Fire" by Joe but those are great!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 23:25 (twenty years ago)

Budden is great over frantic house-y beats and not much else, and dee's right, "Bring Em Out" does kind of have that vibe. of course, T.I. does other stuff well too, but this is one of my favorite flow's i've ever heard by him.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 23:41 (twenty years ago)

"Budden is great over frantic house-y beats and not much else"

Yes this is spot on actually! "Fire" could almost be a UK grime rapper trying to make a slick US hip hop track. I love it though. This seems to be the case for Memphis Bleek too (which is why both rappers do so well with Just Blaze).

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 23:53 (twenty years ago)

haha woah mind meld! I wrote this back a few weeks ago:

"I'm starting to mentally place Bleek and Joe Budden in a class together because they both mostly only sound really good over dance-y Just Blaze beats (I know, who doesn't?)"

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 23:58 (twenty years ago)

I'm a bit disturbed by the fact that when I try to think of my favourite hip hop track of 2004 the first three that leap into my head are "Just Blaze, Bleek & Free", "Everything's A Go" and "Yes". I'm determined to only put one in my end of year top ten. But WHICH ONE???

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

But the weird thing is that not only do they sound better with Blaze, they actually sound fantastic and better than other rappers - Bleek totally slays Jay-Z on "Everything's A Go", and draws even I think with Freeway on "Just Blaze..."

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:12 (twenty years ago)

depends on if it's a singles list or a "tracks" list. "Just Blaze, Bleek & Free" was only an album track. and "Everything's A Go" was out for a looong time before the album dropped. so I'd go with "Yes".

x-post

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:14 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I still love this. "You Don't Know" is hella growing on me too. haha, is it just me or do the horns sound a lot like uhh lou bega "Mambo No. 5">??

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i know i'm getting kinda southall-y here, but i haven't been able to find this on slsk, anyone willing to host/send?

m. (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 15:09 (twenty years ago)

make sure you're searching the right title - it's "Bring Em Out", not "Break", as this thread implies.

video premiere on BET Access Granted tonight!

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

stream if u want it

candour floss (mwah), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 15:50 (twenty years ago)

The beat has that little squeaking sound they use to such good effect in "Hyphy."

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago)

oooh that's niiiiceee

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 17:23 (twenty years ago)

Can't feel the beat. Why is it that I like when grime producers use synth instruments but when Swizz pulls all these fucking whistles and horns and shit, I wanna just shoot myself with a silver bullet and end my fucking werewolf life?

Hmmm....I no like.
