our landlords kinda suck. we were their friends before they suckered us into moving into their new building. they told us it would be sooo great. new construction and all that. we even painted our place and put our own "sweat equity" into the place in exchange for cheap(er) rent. now we are bitter, cuz they are sooooo loud. esp. the wife (i won't mention names, cuz i know it'll totally get back to them, and we're at a loss for what to do. move out? confront them? suffer in silence?) she wears heels *all* the time. like, don't you wear fucking tennis shoes (do they still call them that?) plus, she screams. like, even if you and i were like this close, she'd scream when we were just having a normal conversation. luckily, she's out of town a lot cuz she's in pharmaceutical sales. fucking yuppie. her doctor said she has like these polyps (sp?) on her vocal chords that will eventually become cancerous if she doesn't have this operation where she won't be able to talk for three weeks after. and even though we're talking cancer here, she won't do it!! what the hell? like if someone told you that you were gonna get cancer if you didn't do this one thing, wouldn't you be like, whoa, i'm totally gonna do it? i don't want cancer, dude.

FrankE, Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 18 April 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

plastic dreams is definitely goth!

tricky disco (disco stu), Sunday, 18 April 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

there's an almost italo-disco house song Psychic TV's Allegory and Self.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Sunday, 18 April 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Moby - "All That I Need is to be Loved (MV)"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 18 April 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

19. Lords of Acid - "I Sit On Acid"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 18 April 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Tears is so totally tragic. How can you say that's not tragic?

I think I don't understand the whole premise for this thread. Do you mean "house that sounds like goth"? Cos that's different...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 19 April 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Marvellous as many of these tracks may be, anyone who has ever been to the Electric Ballroom on a Saturday night will know that goths only ever seem to want to dance to gabba versions of the Ren and Stimpy theme.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 19 April 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

VengaDP beat me to the Lords of Acid..
That early-90s 'dance' mix of Carmina Burana should also be on the list, although I can't remember the name of the artist.

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Monday, 19 April 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Monday, 19 April 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I don't understand the whole premise for this thread. Do you mean "house that sounds like goth"? Cos that's different...

No! I shouldn't have even mentioned goth -- sorry for the stumble. I'm looking for tracks where divas whose backs are broken over the altar of romantic love.

31. Kylie Minogue - "Can't Get You Out of My Head" (??? mix)

There's an intelligent jungle track from 95/96 that fits, with the vocal "I'm never gonna let you go / I'm gonna love you, forever..."

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Monday, 19 April 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm looking for tracks where divas whose backs are broken over the altar of romantic love.

an alogether different thing indeed. alright then.

De'Lacy 'Hideaway'
Kristine W 'Feel What You Want'
OT Quartet does still fit tho, a great forgotten Rollo production with Sharon D Clarke-esque diva blaring atop
Electribe 101 'Tell Me When The Fever Ended'

stevem (blueski), Monday, 19 April 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ralphie Rosario feat. someone random - "You Used To Hold Me"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

steve's right re electribe 101. anything feat Billie Ray Martin is a good bet as is Bjork!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

House track feat a diva with a broken heart:
Tamia - "Stranger in my house (Thunderpuss Remix)"

Gothic house:
Brain Bug - "Nightmare"

Seb (Seb), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

ah those cheesy pizzicato presets, such a staple of late 90s euphoric house, for which Rollo Armstrong takes much of the credit.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Black Devil - Disco Club (the whole damn EP)

nick.K (nick.K), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ministry - the nature of love

chiapet - tick tock

stirmonster, Monday, 19 April 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Charlie - Spacer Woman (the vocals are particularly unnerving to me)

nick.K (nick.K), Monday, 19 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Neulander's "Flying" with the creepy lyrics ("all of my brothers and sisters are dead" etc)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Monday, 19 April 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

liz torres-mind games

Current 93, "Gothic Love Song"

Eve Atley (Kilbey1), Monday, 19 April 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah ok, not a house track, but probably tragic enough to put them in ecstasy 'cause the joke's on them :)

Eve Atley (Kilbey1), Monday, 19 April 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)
