"Yo Ryan, I'm an asshole!"

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

cufflinks don't say 'yo, I'm an asshole!'

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

No, but people applying to write for PFM do.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

frankE, Sunday, 18 April 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 18 April 2004 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Writing for Pitchfork: carrying a pitchfork :: selling your soul to the devil: carrying a pitckfork

Pitchforkmania, Sunday, 18 April 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

if you want to write for pitchfork just remember to write sixth-form creative prose instead of actually reviewing the album and describing what the music sounds like.

you should get in on the ground floor at Dusted instead, now that it's impossible to tell the 2 apart

there are loads of valid criticisms of pfm, but I don't think this one really applies anymore, does it? The staff has almost completely turned over since the days when it seemed to be mostly made up of teenage dicrescenzo clones.

scott pl. (scott pl.), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

The people who diss pfm here seem to be jealous that they weren't asked or that it gets more hits than they do.

glen, Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I was asked, actually. I wrote back with some questions. Never heard a response. I shrugged and continued on elsewhere.

How a Pitchfork Review is Crafted

jack cole (jackcole), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

pitchfork would be a good place to write for because quite a lot of people read it.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

fox news would be a good place to be on because quite a lot of people watch it.

jack cole (jackcole), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

if we're looking at it from frankE's perspective, rather than the reader's perspective, pitchfork would be a good place to be. i'm not a massive pfork fan either, but i think a lot of writers want to write in places where there are a lot of people reading. (ie. a lot of writers would jump at the chance to write for publications which they might not enjoy reading)

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

im sorry if i sounded snarky, kilian. i just typed the first thing that popped in my tiny head. yr right -- writing for Pfork would garner one lots of Ghostinternetland exposure -- but the question one has to ask oneself, though, is do they want to work with the editor of whatever outlet want to place their works in.

jack cole (jackcole), Sunday, 18 April 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Pitchfork is like dumb and stuff.

Famous Athlete, Sunday, 18 April 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

no worries jack, i can definitely see what you mean. i personally would quite happily write something for a publication i dislike, but i understand that it could be a frustrating experience.

Yes, It is a real 'UNICORN' (9.3)

The old European legend says that a Unicorn is an Imaginary Animal, but this proves them wrong. It was born and raised on our Wisconsin Dairy Farm. It now weighs 2019 lbs and is very, very tame and loves attention. You can say it's Exotic or Rare but it seems those words always represent more than 1. Well this is the only one ever on this planet earth! There has never been one before and I was told being struck by Lightning more than 30 times would happen before another one will come about. He has been with us for over 3 years and we are offering him for sale now to you. Make us an offer, call us anytime at 715-746-2329. Thank You, Dale Sechen

someone kill this meme already, please.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 19 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

What meme? It's just Ott posting under half a dozen pseudonyms.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 19 April 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe people aren't discussing the unicorn. Also Pitchfork is laughable but this frankE fellow has posted some annoying shit to other threads so they may be made for each other.

adam (adam), Monday, 19 April 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i love the capitalization in the unicorn discussion. it reminds me of ILM's very own "Dude"

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 19 April 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I might write for anybody who'd pay me to...

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Monday, 19 April 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

"weren't asked"

Matos OTM.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

the point is that it's useless starting a thread about it, just email the editor. i should add: based on your writing, i'd suggest learning about grammar'n' stuff before emailing them. ;-)

What the hell are you talking about, Odi?

charlie va (charlie va), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I had never done anything illegal before that night. You see how well you handle it when 35 guys dressed up as human Erasers start trying to rub you out.

The leader of my resisting party, Potato Bonaparte, gave a thrilling speech, however, that motivated the forces, and changed the state of the revolution forever.

It went like this:

"Men, tonight we cease to be men. If ever in one's life neckties were to spawn and become their own breed of carnivore, capitalism would be directly affected, but only if multiplied by the essence of the scent that occurs when a sloppy fellow splatters diarrhea over a bathroom stall. We have been slaves to distributors of inferior china for too long, and now it is time to rise up metaphorically, like a wave of blue Kmart lights, until we spiral out of control and cause God to think he is Abe Vigoda, and surround us with the riches that old droopy actors bathe in. The government wants to spread the myth that bathing is healthy, and I will not stand for it. You can take our bathtowels, but you can NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM!"

I rest my case. And that's why I don't use spic 'n span.

Vaudeville Steve, Friday, 30 April 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)
