Does anyone know what happened to those sweet little guys on Teanbeat?

Sonicred, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Rob Christiansen's with the Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers, who played in NYC last night (I couldn't go). Andrew Beaujon's working in the copy dept. at Spin, and occasionally doing some recording on his own (though he hasn't released anything in a while). Not sure what happened to Evan Shurak, or their many drummers.

Man, they were great in their day.

The All Music Guide review for the latest Sisters of Convoluted Thinkers album refers twice to Christiansen's "quarky" style. Beautiful mistake, or brilliant word twist? Either way, a winner.

Sugar Babe by the Eggs is a killer song.

New Bad Things and Eggs questions on the same day? Has someone been listening to a tape of John Peel's 1993 Festive 50?

Re: Sisterhood Of Convoluted Thinkers- I've only heard the Deepsea Aquanautic Mausoleum, which I adore, but I've heard that the rest of the stuff isn't as good. True? Or is it worth tracking down more?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a copy on tape if you want to trade?

ss, Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, but I have it on tape (no cassette player, sadly) - I was after the CD! ;)

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha Matos to thread!!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Nordic I might have it on cd. If I still have it and haven't sold it, do you want me to burn you a copy?

The only song I really remember is "Minestrone."

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Could you, Nick?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I like "Why Am I So Tired All The Time?"

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll look. It's entirely possible I sold it like 4 years ago, but it might be way in the back.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Much appreciated!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that the same Andrew Beaujon that wrote this about Hyped 2 Death?:

"One grand CD history of the DIY era --an Anthology of American Folk Music for dinky bands from Tampa and Dundee" -Andrew Beaujon, Spin

I happen to love that quote. Never made the connection, or never knew his name in the Eggs...

scott m (mcd), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

One of their many drummers, Zach, is a financial analyst in Chicago.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I have 'How Do You Like Your Lobster?'. I bought it because I loved 'The Government Administrator'.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Government Administrator" yes yes. Also "Roll Away the Stone" (studio recording doesn't measure up to how great it was live, but still), "The Obliviist," the single version of "Erin Go Bragh," "Genetic Engineers," "In State," "Why Am I So Tired All the Time?"... I still miss them.

Douglas (Douglas), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, Nordic, I am an idiot. I have the Eggs cd, but I haven't copied it yet. Send me an email with your mailing address and maybe that will motivate me. My email address is backwards, in case you can't figure it out.
In other Eggs-related news, I was looking at the new issue of Nylon, and Andrew Beaujon wrote an article on Marilyn Manson for it. I was reading Mr. Beaujon's little profile at the front, and apparently he now lives in Richmond, Virginia. Which is where I live. Should I stalk him?

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, you should.

Tx, nick - will write soon!
