anyone else enjoy this band The Court & Spark as much as I did?

I hadn't heard of them before, and I saw them live a couple weeks ago and they were real good. Basically doing a trendy Gram Parsons type thing, but the live guitar sound was fab, the songs were all strong, had a bit of Mojave 3 or even Galaxie 500 vibe too. They were one of the opening bands for Idaho (boring so I didn't stick around), very pleasant surprise. I bought their album off them and it's good as well. You may want to see them if they are still touring around, if you like this type of stuff.

Full disclosure: I have nothing to do with the band or their record label...

Yes. Saw them open for the Mekons, thought they were very good. Got their newest LP "Bless You", and it's also very nice. They play here in San Francisco all the time.

Based on the descriptions here, naming themselves after a Joni Mitchell album sounds like a mistake.

iron law of pop = if you name yrself for someone else's song/LP, you are rubbish. I want to collect exceptions, as all laws are false

Well, I'm not going to claim they're brilliant, but they're certainly not rubbish. I'd see them play live again, and will listen to their LP again. I also like Joni's album of the same name.

Pretty nice. I have been listening to mp3s of 'em since Ptichfork gave them a glowing review as well as audiogalaxy. Mojave 3 is a good reference point. Kinda that great cross country driving music; jangley alt-country.

one month passes...
do your history lesson once more...not named after a joni album...rather a "phrase" or "saying" about relationships way before joni
