another What Was That Video RFI: they watched some ghastly thing with thunderbolts, a little asian girl holding a flower, a guy who looked like Santana dipped in dork sauce, lots of goofy effects, five bands members walking down a hill, etc. etc. It was HORRIFICALLY cheesy.

:|, Monday, 26 April 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Please don't give away the formula for "dork sauce."

Mayor McCheese, Monday, 26 April 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Black Hole Sun?

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

alright, i just found a beavis and butthead video guide, w/ the accompanying videos shown for each episode. i don't have time to skim through it myself, but if some (fool)hardy ILMer wants to do that then go for it:

Hahaha I love the work web-blocking shit.

This site is in a Restricted Category, Criminal_Skills, so access to this Internet web site has been denied.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like Lenny Kravitz probably had something to do with it.

Buster (mokey), Monday, 26 April 2004 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Not the web-blocking, the video.

Buster (mokey), Monday, 26 April 2004 07:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It does sound a bit like "Black Hole Sun", honestly.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i remember liking that video!

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah eisbär, it does. did it feature a woman with a 'frog' tongue? eyes so big it looked as if they were going to pop out? mouths stretched unphysiologically wide (sfx, goofy yes)?

willem (willem), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

It's also exactly ten years old, so I smell a winner!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 26 April 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

B-b-but there wasn't an "Asian girl holding a flower" nor "a guy who looked like Santana dipped in dork sauce" in the Black Hole Sun video.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The Little Girl Spitting Out The Ice Cream Kinda Looked Asian
And Chris Cornell Could Be Our Mystery Santana Dipped in "Dork Sauce"

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Possibly "The King is Half Undressed" by Jellyfish?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

i'm pretty sure that that isn't it, alex. i think that the video i have in mind is from the early 80s.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

i got it! it's "the night the master comes" by electric sun, led by former scorpions' guitarist uli jon roth. here's mr. roth's webpage, check it out it's a hoot!

and a pic of mr. "santana dipped in dork sauce":

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

that is indeed what Santana would look like were he dipped in dork sauce, yeah.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

I'm glad you can finally sleep now, Eisbär. How did you find it?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:47 (twenty years ago)

leafing through an on-line guide to the different beavis and butthead videos. "electric sun" seemed like a strong possibility, so i did a google search and the rest is history.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

THAT'S THE MAN!

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 28 April 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

I'D RECOGNIZE HIM ANYWHERE! HE DID IT! HE DID IT! I KNOW ITS BEEN A DECADE BUT YOU NEVER FORGET! YOU NEVER FORGET!

*sobs uncontrollably*

I'm just so glad he was finally caught and we can put this all behind us.

S. (Sébastien Chikara), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 17:09 (nineteen years ago)

haha. it was _the queen is dead_ . the rerun played tonight and I got to see more than the last 15 seconds. my follow-up precision would have been: morrissey ripoff repeating something like life is very blablabla. "Life is very long, when you’re lonely", I won't disagree with that.

holy shit! "tonight the master comes" is on youtube, and the ENTIRE FUCKING VIDEO is unbelievably cheesy!!

i sincerely hope miccio is still around, to roll around in the sheer cheesiness of it all.

Eisbaer, Saturday, 29 September 2007 04:06 (eighteen years ago)

Oh he's around.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 29 September 2007 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

I'm right here, and I'm very pleased about this.

da croupier, Saturday, 29 September 2007 04:23 (eighteen years ago)

this video should be put in a time capsule, it's essential for understanding the 80s.

Eisbaer, Saturday, 29 September 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

still LOL-crazy after all these years:

Eisbaer, Monday, 24 November 2008 09:57 (seventeen years ago)

the best part: near the end of the video, how the guy with the scary mask and evil magic-stick is transformed on The Night The Master Comes into someone who looks like Florian Schneider ...

Friend of mine was wondering where this animation might've come from. Very cool, psychedelic... But might anybody know who made it?

Looking for a music video on Youtube that went viral a while ago: a South Asian(?) looking guy is walking on a beach, rapping in an amateurish way. I think we also see him standing next to a car. In the most memorable bit of the video there's a cow on the beach and he stops to yell at it.

Found it!

Tuomas, Saturday, 10 April 2021 10:24 (four years ago)

He sounds like a rapping version of Guy Kyser from Thin White Rope, weird.

three years pass...

I know these threads usually come to nothing, but I've been thinking of two particular videos from circa the early 00s that I'd like to see again

1) A kind of laid-back or downtempo hip hop track, possibly French (well there was some French speaking in it, at least); the video showed an animated vinyl record spinning on a turntable; the camera zooms in closer and it becomes a sort of animated claymation landscape. I remember the video being pretty chaotic, one specific detail is an ant coming close up to the camera

2) A moody, somewhat abrasive IDM track with a grainy black and white video, similar visually to the movie Pi; two specific images I remember are a pig on a raft, floating on the water, and a flamenco dancer performing at the end of a dark hallway; I seem to remember a smokestack as well. For some reason, I had remembered u-Ziq as the artist, but this appears to be wrong, as I couldn't find any video like that by searching him on Youtube, and couldn't find any tracks of his from that era that matched my memory of the music, or sounded much anything like it really.

Anyway, long shots, but I've got to give it a try
