benefit show in noho, mass to benefit a community resource center for autism. with sebadoh, j. mascis, sonic youth, and a handful of other locals / talents.

Fun stuff. Nice to see Mascis and Barlow share a stage again.

and, despite techinical snags, the new sonic youth material sounds like it's really getting a momentum behind it.

I hope my friend with the camera got a shot with Lou and J in the same frame--we were sitting 3rd row, like, what, 15 feet away?

It was pretty funny, in a meta-rock kinda way to see Thurston coolily toss his guitar only to be totally screwed when it took forver to fix it. Heh. But I like that rather than apologize he gave us a, "Are you ready?" or something to that effect, real loud like.

Lo Fine was particularly good, IMHO. Their CD that I bought doesn't have quite the same sound as the show, which stinks, but it's a good listen regardless...

What's up with the "Sonic Reducer" bit? I don't have much Sebadoh, was that always in there, or did he just randomly do it for the show?

yeah, he was visibly pissed about the guitar / pedal. for a one-off show with no production company, i thought they did a hell of a job keeping the show moving at a decent pace. the lack of crew/tech's/bodies did muddy it a bit at times, but it was fun to see Lee and Jim running for guitars between songs.

i liked where lo fine was in the evening as well. a good buildup as the night went on.

Lee with J. on Little Fury Things was right on too.

The Chemical Wedding? Wow...
