g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

get rid of "Cry Me A River" & "Wanna Get To Know You"
and i might actually like it

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Why on earth would he get rid of those two?

djdee2005, Monday, 3 May 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well he could go insane.

Nice mix btw, g--ff.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

you people are telling me that you like g unit?

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

yes that's what i'm telling you. kerazey!

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for playing, dude

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that track. The album as a whole is just so-so.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

plus if you were familiar with said g-unit song, you may understand that a certain line in the hook makes the "giving this to a girl" aspect of this enterprise quite cheeky and suggestive!

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

anyway i feel dummest about the arthur russell and junior boys repeats, but i made the 1st one abt 2 months ago, then kept going for the 2nd one recently

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(btw, thanks alex)

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i would like to hear the pixies song

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

if you wanna send these to me i'll be your girlfriend

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

you left off NWA's "Find Em, Fuck Em, and Flee"+

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Always the romantic mixtape fav.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha that's the first post of "uh"'s that I really dug.

Alex SF OTM re: the G-Unit album.

djdee2005, Monday, 3 May 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Other suggestions:

Dr. Dre--Bitches Ain't Shit
Frank Sinatra--Lady is a Tramp
Type O Negative--I Know You're Fucking Someone Else

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahhh, see you ruined it.
Yr first post was good cuz of its brevity.

If her name happens to be "Amanda" the track of same name by M Mayer would be awes.

djdee2005, Monday, 3 May 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

It be worth dating someone named Amanda just to put it on a mixtape. Also for slightly different reasons see: Subnation's "Scottie".

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

That's where you're wrong. Sequels aren't supposed to be as good as the original. It was just a cash cow from the beginning!

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i like almost every song on your mixtapes! if i was the girl i'd be psyched.

geeta (geeta), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

did it make your cootchy feel all tingly?

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It is a very nice mixtape, good for spring/summer.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

+10 cool pts. for including "Return of the Mack."

djdee2005, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

why don't you fuck off, uh!

geeta (geeta), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:09 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i sound like mark e smith

geeta (geeta), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I was gonna say James Brown, UH!

djdee2005, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:10 (twenty-one years ago)

but you look like Warrel Dane.

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:10 (twenty-one years ago)

the warrelcholy dane.

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

nicole otm about the 'point' here. these are so breezy, how this thread turned into such an asshole magnet is beyond me. oy!

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Douche Crew

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

g--ff these look great. i particularly approve of the braxe -> cameo -> jt -> jaybeez transition. nice and summery.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

enoch snow jr, do you enjoy the company of other people?

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I enjoy urinating in your cornflakes.

(and by the way, that's not my name)

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

mark morrison ~ return of the mack
althea and donna ~ uptown top ranking

is just about the best transition ever.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Ice Cube--Cave Bitch

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

But it's in the middle of disc one! If I were that girl, I'd turn it off after that, becuase there's no way it's getting better.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah mark i've found that music with this kind of character is all i want to hear these days. It's '80's' i guess, but not quite, 'light' but still with some tension. i would have added scritti and something off fleetwood mac's tango in the night but i've only got those on vinyl. if anyone besides enoch snow can thing of other stuff that would fit here, please say so.

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Elton John--Someone Saved My Life Tonight

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ok uh, you can officially fuck right off now.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

gonna cry?

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

don't flatter yourself.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not trying to, but I just appear so much better when I appear in the same thread as you.

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

g--ff: human league & richard x!

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

of course! and sitting right on my desktop is lance lockarm ~ shotlicker. oh well, next time.

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Nile--Ramses, Bringer of War

uh, Monday, 3 May 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i read a great double review of a nile album and mailer's ancient evenings somewhere

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this girl a friend or is she something more?
Sorry for prying, but it's difficult to comment on mix tapes without knowing exactly what they are for (and what sort of reactions to them you're hoping for from the recipient).
As they stand, they both work well no matter who the girl is, so perhaps I should go back to minding my own business ...

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Monday, 3 May 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I had completely forgotten about that "return of the mack" song. Good mix. The real question is what kind of vacation is it?

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 3 May 2004 06:45 (twenty-one years ago)

(behind the mask is the happiest song ever... suhweet)

Brandon Mitchell (A.H.), Monday, 3 May 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

if i ever got mixtapes like this (rather than, you know, stuffed with modest mouse songs), i think my brain would explode.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 May 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

actually g--ff these are a little too good

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 May 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm so glad I don't know any girl who would like that mix in any way.

David Allen (David Allen), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm just kinda surprised you know any girls period.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

That AR kane track is my fave of theirs and a great way to begin.

Many things I haven't heard there but like most of what I have.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i will think of these songs often today as i am forced to listen to snow patrol and dido.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo- try to learn to read lips and use a walkman.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Good mix! Where's she going on her vacation? I'm thinking somewhere beachy.

Dude/YellowDart, you might want to check out this.

willem (willem), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

snow patrol and dido have collaborated?

I like the Christina Milian song, I saw her on 4 different TV shows this weekend.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

for the record: top of the pops; top of the pops saturday; CD:UK; popworld.

Replace Bedingfield with Anthrax or Helloween, and you'd have quite a good mix.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 May 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

If I was a young lady and some gent gave me a mix with R.Kelly on it, I'd get a restraining order on them, change the locks on the door and buy some brass knuckles and a big fuck you can of mace.g

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 3 May 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I would use Marvin Gaye's Come Live With Me Angel instead of G-Unit.

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 3 May 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Only questionable song is Herbie Hancock "Rockit". Though important in the hip-hop breakbeat canon, I find it doesn't make for good repeat listens - altogether, I find it to be a pretty boring song. On a mixtape for a lady, it doesn't seem to have it's place. Maybe, I'm wrong on this but it's a gut feel. Otherwise, it's a real stellar mix.

Gregory T (tubesocks), Monday, 3 May 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

So all I want now is a boy who makes CDs like those for me.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 3 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Aside from my obvious bete noire near the end of the first disc, looks pretty spiff to me! Nicole's take on the sound OTM.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

these are great mixes! well done sir!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

"If I was a young lady and some gent gave me a mix with R.Kelly on it, I'd get a restraining order on them, change the locks on the door and buy some brass knuckles and a big fuck you can of mace.g"

You tell him, g!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't imagine not liking a mix which had a R Kelly song on it.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 03:28 (twenty-one years ago)
